@AlysonDecker10 Check out the Sandos Caracol Eco Resort in Cancun. We did the regular side, but they have a select adult only side. All inclusive and well priced. Lots of fun things to see and do at the hotel. Just check and see if the adult only includes those. I believe it should.

So any suggestions for a beachy place that is an easy flight from LA, has good weather in April, adults only preferred, with good food, water I actually want to swim in (California's beaches are too cold), and won't cost me five figures all in.

So- in less than 6 months I turn 40. I had always wanted to spend that birthday in the Maldives, but it seems kinda wrong to put money to that (it ain't cheap) when we are really hoping to buy a house next year. And the flights are like 24+ hours from and I don't want to do that.

@llmunro I actually do a short "How to Read an Academic Article" talk (with posted slides) for almost all of my day one lectures. Engagement actually went way up after that!

@TheCassyG That's awesome! Just be sure to budget for the nightly resort fees, etc. that come with it. Though it shouldn't be too bad based on that rate. You can get a good full estimate if you call the hotel.
