Vinit Goenka@vinitgoenka

Today we lost a strong pillar of our organization, @CKSIndia — Shri Bholenath Sir. Always available and deeply committed, he served with distinction, including critical responsibilities in the North East and as ADC to the Governors. A soft-spoken yet sharp professional, he will be greatly missed. I pray to Shri Ram to grant him eternal peace and honor his dedicated service to the nation. Om Shanti ! 🙏

Bharat’s blue and brown wealth remains underutilised not due to scarcity, but invisibility. Geospatial science can change that. Read the blog by Mr. Vinit Goenka @vinitgoenka (Secretary, @CKSIndia) on how mapping unlocks economic power. Read here: blog.mygov.in/editorial/mapp…

𝗔𝗜 𝗶𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮 – 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗶𝘁 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝘀𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 ? Everywhere you look today, someone is talking about #AI. From startups to big corporates, everyone wants to show they are “doing something with AI, talking about AI, implementing AI and so on.” Indians aren’t left behind… different companies are bringing in new AI models and these companies are being highly valued. We are quick adopters of technology. Just like mobile payments and #UPI, AI feels like the next big leap, naturally! A trend observed is no company wants to be left behind. If one bank or IT firm launches an AI product, others rush to follow. If one person is discussing it, everyone is too. Our young workforce, especially the college startup ecosystem, is excited to experiment and showcase skills. The government is encouraging AI for social good, which adds more push. People are talking about responsible AI. Media hype, LinkedIn posts, multiple events make AI sound like the future, so businesses & entrepreneurs feel pressure to join in. It is almost a feeling that if you are using humans to do it or doing it in a traditional way, you are no longer tech-savvy. This excitement is good as it shows India’s energy and ambition. 𝘽𝙪𝙩 𝙬𝙚 𝙖𝙡𝙨𝙤 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙥𝙖𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙖𝙨𝙠: 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙬𝙚 𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘼𝙄 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙗𝙚𝙘𝙖𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙚𝙡𝙨𝙚 𝙞𝙨, 𝙤𝙧 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙬𝙚 𝙗𝙪𝙞𝙡𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙨𝙤𝙡𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙡𝙮 𝙖𝙙𝙙 𝙫𝙖𝙡𝙪𝙚? Are we talking about it to stay relevant, or is it really helping us? One study says software engineering will become obsolete. One entrepreneur said we should take up new professions. This is also creating panic in minds of many, especially people who are 35–40 plus. Another report said corporates are planning to call back resources they laid off, stating that AI was implemented and their services were no longer needed. 👉 Don’t adopt #herdmentality. AI should not be about copying what others are doing, rather it should be about solving real problems in your context. 👉 #Datasovereignty is key for India. If we rely only on global models and foreign platforms, we risk losing control over our own data. India must build AI that protects its citizens’ privacy and strengthens national resilience. 👉 India can lead. With our talent pool, entrepreneurial spirit, and government push, India has the chance to set benchmarks in responsible AI by balancing innovation with ethics, and hype with impact. Let’s make sure this “contagion” becomes a force for real impact, not just imitation. #CKS @CKSIndia

Honored to once again address the distinguished participants of the National Defence College #NDC on the theme: “Evolving Interplay between Social Media & National Security.” In my talk, I underscored how digital platforms, while enabling unprecedented connectivity, also serve as conduits for misinformation, vectors for cyber espionage, and instruments of strategic communication. I highlighted how social media is used by State and Non State actors as a powerful tool for positive and negative narrative building. In the age of AI, social media causes many new threats. These dynamics demand vigilant responses and resilient frameworks to safeguard national interests. This was my third consecutive invitation to speak at NDC, a privilege that reaffirms the institution’s commitment to engaging with diverse perspectives on the challenges of our digital era. The National Defence College is India's apex institution of learning for the study and practice of national security and strategy. Established in 1960, it has over the years earned a reputation for excellence and gained world renown. It is dedicated to the intellectual development and strategic enculturation of select senior officers of the Armed Forces, Civil Government Services of India and those from friendly foreign countries, for higher leadership positions and responsibilities. The Course is run for 47 weeks from January to November every year. Every year the course has participants who are Brigadier or equivalent/ Director/ Joint Secretary Officers from the Indian Armed Forces, Indian Civil Services, Indian Police Service, other organs of the Indian Government and officers from Friendly Foreign Countries (FFCs). My sincere gratitude to NDC for this honour and for fostering dialogue that strengthens India’s preparedness in the information age. After a decade and half old sustained effort towards #Digital and #Data sovereignty by @CKSIndia , we can finally see Indians shifting to Swadeshi apps. This is probably the second most important step after DPDP act. We thank @AshwiniVaishnaw & @PiyushGoyal for taking this initiative and inspiring many Bharatiyas towards @Zoho @Arattai @svembu #DataSovereigntyThePursuitofSupremacy I thank all my CKS team members , partners and supporters for keeping this movement on for so many years.
