@BrettDBarnard @Richard_Spoor it is not that simple, the mines are all connected not just those, but the others surrounding them too. in 2005 when the quake that closed Stilfontein 5 shaft hit, I was underground at harmony 11, and some of 5's people walked to 11, and got out there, it all connected

@Richard_Spoor Easy solution, Pumps on the Stilfontein mine ensure that Stilfontein mine Buffels mine and Harties mine don't flood. Switch off these pumps and the mines will flood naturally, no more future miners to worry about.
