Στην κεντρική μου ομιλία στην Ευρωπαϊκή Σύνοδο της Διεθνούς Ένωσης Κρουαζιέρας @CLIAGlobal, που πραγματοποιήθηκε στο Ρότερνταμ, υπογράμμισα τη δέσμευση της ΕΕ για ένα πιο ανταγωνιστικό και βιώσιμο μέλλον στον κλάδο της κρουαζιέρας. Ασφάλεια, καινοτομία, έξυπνες επενδύσεις και πράσινες τεχνολογίες πρέπει να συμβαδίζουν για να μπορέσουμε να διασφαλίσουμε την ανάπτυξη του κλάδου και να κρατήσουμε την Ευρώπη στην πρώτη θέση παγκοσμίως. Κατά την επίσκεψή μου στο Ρότερνταμ είχα, επίσης, μια εξαιρετικά παραγωγική συνάντηση με επικεφαλής εταιρειών κρουαζιέρας και ευρωπαϊκών ναυπηγείων. Η βιομηχανία της κρουαζιέρας αποτελεί αναπόσπαστο μέρος του τουρισμού της Ευρώπης, συμβάλλοντας σημαντικά στην ευρωπαϊκή οικονομία και στηρίζοντας χιλιάδες θέσεις εργασίας. Είναι επίσης ένας βασικός πυλώνας της ευρωπαϊκής ναυπηγικής βιομηχανίας, η οποία έχει στρατηγική σημασία για την ΕΕ.
