Inside a random building somewhere in England there's a handy bit of wasted space we've been looking at. 'So what?' you might ask. Lots of buildings have weird little areas that get 'repurposed' into general long term storage. True. But then this building needs a new heating system as the old one reaches end of life & also needs to decarbonize away from gas. Can anyone think of anything that can run flexibly on electricty, produce heat & participate in energy markets? 'Cos we can 😉

Today's 'let's not make it easy to build a business in the UK' story: Investor: Hey @RenewaBlox , LOVE what you're doing about the UK's wasted energy problems and your cool business model, I'd like to invest £2000 please! RBX: Thank you for our trust and confidence - welcome aboard! FCA: Hey guys, what you doin'? RBX/Investor: Building the future of energy optimisation and decarbonisation - the solution the government has been after for years! FCA: Yeah, but no. Investor: why? FCA: Because we've decided your investor is not smart enough to make their own investment decisions. Investor: But I've been investing in stocks for years. FCA: Doesn't count, sorry. Investor: But I regularly invest in Bitcoin and my bloodline is now set for generations? FCA: (laughing) That definitely doesn't count, sorry. Investor: But I manage my own SIPP and have demonstrable market beating returns! FCA: Doesn't count. Investor: Wait, what? What DOES count? FCA: Proving you have invested multiple times in unlisted companies, such as early stage companies. Investor: What, like this? FCA: Yup, exactly. Investor (thinking for a moment) So, I can only invest in seed stage companies if I have already invested in seed stage companies? FCA: Correct! Now you're getting it! Investor: But what if I'm happy to take the risk? FCA: Nah, we're protecting you. You couldn't possibly undertand the risks. You're not clever enough. You're money's much safer in a bank gradually losing value over time. We got rules and stuff that we'll use to protect that money and sometimes we even use them. Well, unless it's inconvenient for us, or there's a crisis going on or the government chnages it's mind mind, or we just decide we don't want to. But otherwise, you'll be fine. Probably. Investor: Erm, OK. So how do I invest in seed stage companies if I need to invest in seed stage companies first and can't invest in them until I have invested in them? FCA: IDK, that's your problem. @crab_apple_3773 @RenewaBlox Nice! From 2028 we will be seeking to deploy Demand for Constraints contracted projects as a balancing mechanism unit (>1MW) with market stacking, such as slow reserve. Having said that, we have MW+ projects in the pipeline and we are exploring full suite ancillary services

@RenewaBlox @CL_Wheeler Nice articles Callum! I'm guessing you're a way off reaching the 1MW needed to participate in the quick/slow reserve programs (300-400 miners?) That would be some achievement.
