I’m proud to co-sponsor intro 606 and help bring a degree of order to our e-bike chaos. Intro 606 would force electrically powered bikes — motor vehicles — to fall under the same rules as other motor vehicles and carry basic registration and license plates. We’ve watched e-bike operators flout not only traffic law but basic courtesy for too long now, and the incidence of traffic incidents has skyrocketed. It’s time for accountability. The fact that a despicable anti-New York lobbying group like TransAlt is against this commonsense bipartisan legislation speaks only to its virtues.

The operative noun misused in your post Joel is "I". You were not elected for your personal opinion. And you were not elected to represent the entire city. You were elected to represent NOT substitute your opinion for D4 constituents. What is remarkable is there was no studies done, no impact reports on traffic, on repercussions to existing wild life - the entire strip is a protected area for Snowy Plovers, and this is particularly glaring as both the SFMTA and Parks and Rec co-sponsored Prop K together with the author Myrna Melgar of D7. What is further remarkable is your prioritization of a park when the city is $799M deficit, constitutants hurting from inflation, and recovering from 13.3% unemployment pandemic rate of 2020, [sf.gov/data/san-franc…]. Traffic ease, road repair and public transit safety should have been foremost on your list of to-do's. Instead, you chose to play team with your compadres at the expense of your own D4 constituents. You reap what you sow.
