We fully endorse and unequivocally associate ourselves with the principled position advanced by the Zimbabwe Council of Churches. As usual, the Council has spoken with moral courage, constitutional fidelity and prophetic clarity at a key moment in our nation’s democratic journey. The statement is a principled stance in defence of constitutionalism, the rule of law and the sovereign will of the people of Zimbabwe. We particularly associate ourselves with the Council’s reaffirmation that citizens have an inalienable constitutional right to peacefully assemble, demonstrate and petition, as guaranteed under Section 59 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe. This right is neither granted by the State nor exercised at its pleasure; it is a constitutional guarantee that lies at the heart of every democratic society. Equally important is the Council’s call upon the Government, the Zimbabwe Republic Police and all security institutions to facilitate and protect the peaceful exercise of these constitutional freedoms. The maintenance of public order must never become a justification for suppressing legitimate democratic expression or silencing citizens who seek to exercise rights expressly protected by the Constitution. Fellow citizens, constitutional democracy cannot exist where constitutional rights are selectively applied. The right to peaceful protest is not a threat to democracy. Those who choose to exercise this right peacefully must be protected, not criminalised, intimidated or subjected to arbitrary arrest. We therefore stand firmly with the Zimbabwe Council of Churches in calling for constitutional fidelity, respect for the rule of law, and the protection of the rights and freedoms guaranteed by our Constitution.

📢 PASTORAL LETTER TO THE NATION The Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC) has issued a Pastoral Letter to the Nation, calling on all Zimbabweans to safeguard constitutionalism, peace, and national cohesion. Among its key calls, the ZCC urges: • A free, fair, and credible national referendum on Constitutional Amendment Act No. 3. • Respect for the courts and the rule of law. • Peaceful and lawful civic expression. • Inclusive national dialogue that promotes justice, reconciliation, and lasting peace. As the Church, we reaffirm our commitment to speaking the truth in love and working towards a united, peaceful, and democratic Zimbabwe. “Speak out, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy.” - Proverbs 31:9 📖 Read the full Pastoral Letter on our website: api.zimbabwecouncilofchurches.org/uploads/docume…

I’ve just spoken with ZRP Spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi and informed him that as CCC, which I represent in Parliament, doesn’t support and won’t participate in the planned protests. I urge @PoliceZimbabwe to carry out their constitutional mandate without fear or favour.

HAD A WONDERFUL EVENING at Westminster Abbey in London, where we held a series of roundtable discussions with Zimbabweans from all walks of life…academics, professionals, entrepreneurs, young people, women', media practitioners, and students. The conversations were open, thoughtful, and enriching. It was an opportunity to listen, exchange ideas, share perspectives, and collectively reflect on the vision, policies, and institutions needed to build a more prosperous, inclusive, and CITIZENOCRACTIC Zimbabwe. My sincere thanks to everyone who took the time to participate and contribute. Your insights, passion, and commitment to Zimbabwe's future are invaluable. Together, we can turn our shared aspirations into practical steps to achieve a proud and prosperous New Great Zimbabwe. A citizens government in our lifetime is our task and duty. The struggle for a just society continues!

As a Senator and Official Opposition Leader in Parliament of Zimbabwe, I denounce any form of unsanctioned demos, as they will solve nothing, we must join hands and preach the gospel of peace in our country. The police must deal firmly with anyone who engages in unlawful acts.

THIS IS TRULY HEARTBREAKING 💔 We must act urgently to support our fellow Zimbabwean nationals during this difficult time. Silence and inaction are not options. Now is the time for diplomatic efforts, compassion, solidarity, and decisive action.

Under Mugabe, war veterans were brutalized, harassed with arrests, tear gas, and state violence for demanding three meals a day. Under Mnangagwa, they are being humiliated in a different way — by zvigananda who are flaunting wealth to promote values and interests completely detached from what the liberation struggle stood for. In the meantime, they are consigned to a liberation style uniform. This is the betrayal of the revolutionary promise. The same people who fought for Zimbabwe are now expected to watch as the nation is auctioned to the highest bidder. My question is simple: Zimbabwe yenyu ichauya rinhi? Matemadanda is today dead; may his family be comforted. People die in different ways.
