CPD Citywide Community Safety Team

The Community Safety Team is dedicated to building trust in our communities and maintaining a police presence to reduce violence in our city.

Yesterday, 7662A stopped a driver for a vehicle violation in the 4100 block of W. Fifth Ave in @ChicagoCAPS11. During the traffic stop investigation, this .380 cal Taurus PT-738 was recovered from a convicted felon. Felony UUW by felon charge approved. Good job! @Chicago_Police

Members of the Chicago Police Department came together to support family and friends of CPD Officer Carlos Yanez Jr. and fallen CPD Officer Ella French at the Leighton Criminal Court building today. Officer Ella French was killed in the line of duty August 7th, 2021. #NeverForget

Today our @CPD_CST officers joined the youth in some outdoor sports located in @ChicagoCAPS04. Officers assisted the youth with fishing, archery, and skeet shooting. Thank you to all the vendors and volunteers that came out to make this happen.

Chicago Police Officers joined family and friends at the Leighton Criminal Court building to support the family CPD Officer Carlos Yanez Jr and fallen Chicago Police Officer Ella French. Officer French was killed in the line of duty End of Watch: August 7th, 2021. #NeverForget

Today our @CPD_CST officers join Monarcas Elementary School located in @ChicagoCAPS08 for a prep rally. Officers had the opportunity to engage with students, teachers, and parents. Students got to enjoy a variety of fun games in a friendly competition.

@ChicagoCAPS11 @Chicago_Police A fleeing individual was placed into custody leading to the recovery of this 9mm Glock 19 firearm with a switch. Felony Reckless Discharge and Aggravated UUW charges approved. Great work officers!

Yesterday, 1102S observed individuals discharging a firearm on POD camera in the 900 block of N. Monticello Ave in @ChicagoCAPS11. 7663E responded to the ShotSpotter call and attempted to detain the individuals matching the description. @Chicago_Police

Yesterday, our 7661 Team conducted a mission in the 4300 block of W. Monroe St. in @ChicagoCAPS11 . Their efforts resulted in one felony arrest, the recovery of 3 firearms, including 1 with a defaced serial number & suspect narcotics. Job well done officers!

Our officers working on Bt 7661E received information that guns & narcotics were hidden on the 1000 blk of N. Drake. Officers investigated & discovered the below firearm & suspect narcotics. Well done officers & thank you to our community who entrusted us with this information.

This morning our @CPD_CST officers joined @LawndaleHealth in a 5K. This was to celebrate 15 years of service to the community of Lawndale located in @ChicagoCAPS10. Thank you to all that were involved to celebrate this special occasion.

Our officers from @CPD_CST accompanied Southwest Senior Center @ChiFamSupport in @ChicagoCAPS08 for their end of summer Sneaker Ball. Seniors got to enjoy a special lunch and a DJ to dance their sneakers off!

Today is the National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims. We honor those who have been senselessly killed & stand with those who have lost loved ones. At the #ChicagoPolice Department, our Family Liaison Officers work to advocate for families who are experiencing this loss.

Yesterday, our officers on Beat 7623D stopped a driver for a vehicle violation in the 3800 block of W. Lake St in @ChicagoCAPS11. During the traffic stop investigation, this 9mm Tisas 1911 A1 was recovered. The individual was charged accordingly. Good job! @Chicago_Police

Our officers in @CPD_CST and officers in @ChicagoCAPS12 joined @HelenJoeNFP in a community Baby shower. During the event the community played educational games and received resources for their families.

Our officers in @CPD_CST joined St. Pius V school located in the @chicagocaps12 for a prayer for International Peace Day. Officers and students stood in front of the school cheering on cars to honk their horn to indicate unity & peace.

The #ChicagoPolice Department joined the families of fallen Officer Benjamin Perez (End of Watch Sep. 18, 2002) and Officer Bernard Domagala (End of Watch Sep. 5, 2017) at a memorial roll call this evening. We remember their sacrifice and honor their legacy. #NeverForget

Our officers from @CPD_CST accompanied Southwest Senior Center @ChiFamSupport in @ChicagoCAPS08 for a celebration for Mexican Independence Day. Dancers of all ages came to dance for the elderly community teaching them the history of Mexico.
