A great example of one of the reasons why many basketball fans cannot take the @nba seriously any longer. Allowing & encouraging the most talented players in the world to essentially make a mockery of the game.

January 30th, 1982: The Water Bottle Incident To really understand this one, we first need to set the table; as was covered yesterday, NoDak and Wisconsin are at the top of college hockey and the rivalry has never been more bitter. The Sioux had a reputation for being a mean, physical bunch, and they used it to their advantage. The venue for this brawl, the Dane County Coliseum, was widely regarded at the time as one of the wildest environments with some of the rowdiest fans in college puck. The fans sat almost on top of the benches, and they weren't shy. With the Badgers up 3-0, NoDak forward Cary Eades skated past the Wisconsin bench when Badger John Newberry squirted him in the face with a water bottle (the second time that night he did it to Eades). Eades promptly entered the UW bench to "chat" with Newberry where he was met with a punch from Pat Eithier that set off a powder keg. They fought in the benches, on the ice and in the stands. At one point, a Sioux player and Badger rolled into the Beer Garden where a UW band member dumped a pitcher of beer into the NoDak player's face. The fight set a WCHA record for the number of suspensions arising from one incident. A scuffle that perfectly embodies how these teams feel about eachother, it's one you really just need to watch (and listen to) to appreciate:

Four Big 10 teams in NCAA Elite 8 & #Wisconsin beat all four. Indeed, it was 5-2 vs. Michigan, Illinois, Purdue, Iowa. Yet, some are pushing narrative that the program isn’t competitive with the nation’s best after it again failed to make the second weekend. Facts say otherwise.

@MattBredesen I'm pro shot clock for WI. Should be implemented. That being said, I see posts complaining about stalling & how it's bad for the game. Winning is the game in competitive basketball. If the other team is stalling & you need possessions to win the game, get out & guard.

Shot Clock anyone? I dont blame coaches. If not forced to play, why not stall. BUT why are we so anti-progress. Why is dribbling for 2 minutes unguarded okay in a State Championship. WIAA its time to advance the game.

Couldn't be more proud of my champion. Flu bug hit our @UWOWBB1 team this past week. Night before the game it hit Aves. Got her in an IV clinic on game day. She gave it her all like she always does. @alpoole_21 , I'm excited to be your biggest fan in your next chapter of life💪💪

@dekker @MarchMadnessMBB Happens in the D3 WBB tourney as well. Players talk to the refs about it and they're told it's inflated to NCAA standards which apparently is a kids bouncy ball 😁

Do I have to scream this each year until I am red in the face?? @MarchMadnessMBB needs to hire someone at every venue to make sure the basketballs are acceptable to be played with. It turns the actual product into a completely random event.
