@ProfHurst Because COPD exacerbation reflect an epithelial damage driven immune hyperresponsiveness to triggers such as virus - and targeting the epithelium via the anti-IL13 effects is more ffe tive than targeting IL5? As well as targeting mucus metaplasia. And epithelial mast cells..?

…why biological haven’t been such a success in COPD despite transforming the care of other chronic inflammatory conditions. ?end organ damage ?microbiome ?heterogeneity ?comorbidity and cancer risk ??

Need to see the data, and a paper, but this press release suggests positive results on exacerbations, lung function and HRQOL for dupilumab in *eosinophilic* #COPD… It’s been a long wait for such promising data. Which rather begs the question… sanofi.com/en/media-room/…
