Government borrowing worldwide has reached unprecedented levels: Global government bond issuance through bank offerings has surged to a record $504 billion in H1 2026. This covers only government bonds sold through banks rather than regular auctions, a method particularly popular in Europe, and does not include US Treasury issuance, which relies exclusively on direct auctions. This marks the 4th consecutive annual increase and even exceeds the H1 2020 pandemic emergency spending. Italy has led all borrowers with ~$81 billion raised year-to-date, followed by Germany at ~$16.1 billion, while the UK, Belgium, and Serbia have each priced their largest government bond deals on record. The global debt crisis is worsening.

The United States has been moving 7000,000 barrels a day through the straight via Omani waters at night. Iran has not been able to stop that. Add to that another 7 million barrels that have been sent across Saudi Arabia to the Red Sea and Iran is only choking off 4-6million barrels per day. Very different from even three weeks ago.

Cue the Will Ferrell meme. Put me in the skeptic camp. The key issue is control of the Strait. I doubt Iran is ready to give that up, or the US is willing to accept that outcome. Either someone is lying, or a deal is impossible.🧐 zerohedge.com/geopolitical/e…

Rising deficits and debt levels have been the scourge in this country for the past decade. We need to teach our youth a better understanding of real financial literacy. Excess money supply always causes inflation. Excess money supply is a result ever increasing deficits of debt loads. Canadians need to learn to become savers again. There is a reason that our gross domestic product per person has not grown for a decade.

Canadians are borrowing money faster than their incomes are growing. People owe more on mortgages, credit cards, and other loans. Even though incomes may be increasing, debt is increasing even more. This has been happening for about a year and a half. As a result, many households are becoming more financially stretched.
