A high-level U.S. industry delegation comprising representatives from the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) and the U.S.-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) called on to hold detailed discussions on the emerging opportunities for private investment and industry collaboration in India’s Nuclear sector, particularly after the @narendramodi government adopted the #SHANTI Act that has opened up the nuclear sector to private players from within and outside India. The delegation's visit, facilitated by the U.S.-India Strategic Partnership Forum, brought together senior representatives from the U.S. nuclear industry, business stakeholders and officials associated with India–U.S. cooperation in civil nuclear energy and advanced technologies. The interaction focused on India’s ambitious Nuclear Energy Mission, recent policy reforms enabling greater private sector participation, and the expanding scope of India–U.S. cooperation in clean energy and critical technologies. The United States and India share a strong, strategic partnership. SHANTI Act, 2025 aims at facilitating greater participation of the private sector, including foreign participation, in the nuclear sector. The implementation framework under the Act is being finalised to further strengthen collaborative opportunities. India is also moving ahead with plans for development of Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), supported by an allocation of nearly ₹20,000 crore.

Addressed the programme organised by the Technology Development Board (TDB) at Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi, to sign agreements for five projects under the "Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) Fund" Scheme, issue the first electronic fund disbursement, and release compendium on the status report of the RDI Scheme. Address Takeaways: "India’s future growth in deep-tech sectors will depend on the country’s ability to adopt a trusted integrated approach. RDI Fund Scheme is aimed at accelerating private sector participation in research and development. Quantum and AI sovereignty, along with indigenous ecosystems will define India's next-generation growth. Post-Quantum cryptography and Quantum-safe infrastructure are also essential for long-term national security".

The Management of Parul University #Vadodara sprung a pleasant surprise by arranging an interaction of around 100+ students hailing from different districts of #Jammu region, who are currently pursuing various courses like Engeering, Nursing, Management, Science etc in the campus. Overall, I was told that there are hundreds of students from #JammuAndKashmir presently enrolled in the University.

Such wonders happen when “Public Private Participation” shines even in Space! Couldn’t have been possible if PM @narendramodi had not allowed the unlocking of Space to the Private sector five years ago. Mission Drishti by @GalaxEye marks a significant milestone in India’s space journey. The successful launch of the world’s first OptoSAR satellite, and the largest privately-built satellite in the country, reflects the immense potential of our young innovators driving nation-building. Heartiest congratulations and best wishes to the founders and the entire team for this remarkable achievement.

#IMD: "This is to reassure the common public that there is no cause for panic over Weather Forecasts regarding the heat conditions predicted or expected during the month of May, and any unwarranted reaction can be avoided by understanding the forecast correctly and by following simple day-to-day precautions.  While certain regions may witness above-normal temperatures and heat wave conditions, these are not uniform across the country and can be effectively managed through timely preparedness and adherence to advisories issued, from time to time, by the "India Meteorological Department" (IMD). As per the latest monthly outlook and extended-range forecast issued by the IMD, above-normal maximum temperatures are likely over southern peninsular India, parts of the northeast and northwest India, while a large part of the country is expected to experience normal to below-normal temperatures during the month. Minimum temperatures in several regions are also likely to remain above normal. Authorities are fully prepared to deal with heat-related conditions and coordinated efforts are being undertaken at the State and district levels to ensure availability of drinking water, functional cooling arrangements and uninterrupted power supply. Special attention is being given to vulnerable groups including infants, the elderly and outdoor workers. With regard to agriculture, prevailing conditions remain generally favourable for harvesting of late Rabi crops in northern and northwestern regions. However, farmers have been advised to carry out field operations during morning and evening hours, ensure light and frequent irrigation, and take protective measures for livestock. Please note that updated weather information is available on IMD’s official website (mausam.imd.gov.in), mobile applications including Mausam App, Mausamgram portal, and through various media platforms". #MoES

Evaluated in detail with the Chairman of "Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre" #IN-SPACe, Dr Pawan Goenka, the progress made in India’s Space programmes, since the opening up of the #Space related activities and projects to the private sector, five years ago. Gratifying to note that over USD 600 million private investment has been made in the Space sector over the last five years. The number of #StartUps in the Space sector has increased from single digit to over 400. These StartUps are active across launch vehicles, satellite and payload manufacturing, ground infrastructure, data services, and emerging in-orbit segments. Increasing global interest is also reflected in rising engagements with international clients, including established Space-faring nations. To support this momentum, a range of focused initiatives have been rolled out. A ₹1,000 crore venture capital fund is being operationalised with SIDBI to support growth-stage StartUps, while a ₹500 crore Technology Adoption Fund is enabling the transition of early-stage innovations into commercially viable products. The seed fund scheme is providing grants of up to ₹1 crore to StartUps at the ideation and prototype stage, along with mentoring and ecosystem support. The immediate plan is to set up Space laboratories in Universities and Colleges across India, with seven such labs to be established in the first phase to provide hands-on exposure to students in satellite systems, rocketry and mission design. The initiative is aimed at building a strong force of skilled youth for India’s expanding Space sector. Meanwhile, India’s global engagement in the Space sector continues to deepen, with partnerships now spanning over 45 countries. Recent collaborations include agreements with Singapore and the UAE, participation of Indian companies in international space forums, and initiatives to connect domestic startups with global markets.

It is very encouraging that in today’s #MannKiBaat, while highlighting the transformation in India’s dairy sector, PM Sh @narendramodi ji mentioned #JammuAndKashmir’s GI-tagged “Kalari Cheese”, which has been designated under “One District One Product” as district #Udhampur product. Glad to share that “Central Food Technological Research Institute” (CFTRI) Mysuru is working on a “Kalari” project to develop its different recipes for food outlets. Earlier the same institute had worked on Millet recipes which are now being served at McDonald's outlets as well.

My address at Inaugural Plenary of “Global Symposium on Resource Efficiency and Circular Economy”: Key takeaways: "World witnessing a paradigm shift to "Circular Economy", the idea of “waste” is rapidly disappearing. Here is the example of the government having earned more than Rs 4,000 cr simply from scrap including e-waste, during the 'Swachhata' campaign; The emerging model of circular economy, backed by recycling and biotechnology-driven innovations, is set to redefine industrial growth and sustainability across sectors. The next industrial revolution will increasingly be determined by these options. Policy Support, StartUps and Industry Participation can accelerate India’s Circular Economy Transition".
