like 5 nuclear reactor companies asked me if @lightcellenergy can imagine TPV for the moon base, but the whole frame of the technical programs separates the reactor from the emitter, and the whole premise of TPV is superlinear (>= T^4!) scaling in power with temperature, and the whole drive of the weight efficiency necessary for getting something on the moon suggests that you want something maximizing temperature. luckily, thoria and urania are the highest temperature refractory oxide ceramics, and they are even probably available on the moon, for long term in situ resource utilization. so fission is solvable, and fission + fusion hybrids could be an awesome portable power source. IF WE HAD THE GUTS!!

@gak_pdx Very much agree… and, outside of knowing the price tag or the hand painted pony, what about this design says “status”? I don’t get it, which means I’m not the target.

Ferrari’s job is to be the enchanting Italian mistress. It is not supposed to be practical, or sensible, or responsible, or efficient- every other major car brand is fighting tooth and nail to be those things. Ferrari exists to be the dangerous BPD addled smoke show you lust after. That you shirk off the responsibilities of the kind of deeply complex professional life that allows you to afford one, for weekend affairs that rekindle something primal. It is about making moments that you never forget because they are so magical and improbable. When I was in my early 20s, a friend of my family needed a ride to Ferrari of Marin to pick up his new 612 and he thought I would be fun to bring along. The dealer had a couple of hours of paperwork waiting on some bank snafu, and he sweet talked them into letting me take an F430 out for a spin, on my own. I made a b-line for that one way tunnel to the Marin headlands… nobody was around, the light turned green, and I emerged from that tunnel as an entirely different man (with a little hearing damage). This… thing… this motorcar? Is stirring up such a response because it signals that Ferrari might be dead. That is just another globalist schlock luxury brand making baubles for the wealthy to flex their bank accounts with. No risk. No tradeoff. No danger… just another appliance for getting from A to B while the prancing horse imposes your success on those around you.

Today's wind tunnels and other tools are vastly better at reducing drag and increasing stability. The older car from 1963 has a drag coefficient of 0.33 and the newer car 0.25. Older cars have spiffy looks but horrible drag. Newer cars have dramatically less drag, and more importantly, increased stability. This constrains their looks. If you look past minor cosmetic details you'd be surprised at how similar modern cars look. There's an entire science devoted to just dealing with the drag, noise, and stability problems caused by the rear view mirrors on each side.

@Offixialanagu The most fucked up part is that it is hyperstimulation masquerading as rest. Weed takes the brakes OFF the DMN, which puts the wandering mind into overdrive. CB1 activation suppresses pain and anxiety signals, but the rest is a mirage.

Isaiah Taylor - making nuclear reactors
Hey opps and rivals, I know you all are in a dead heat to see who can make themselves more ridiculous in attempts to disparage me, but please be gentle about the hairline. That one is real and it does hurt

Your ancestors didn't call it neurodivergent. They called you the seer. The healer. The one who knows. Reclaim that. 🌑

@teachthemx3 Consequences don’t help neurodivergent kids develop, it just teaches them to hate themselves. You’re an asshole.

It’s the last week of school. A teacher I work with had a student turn in 8 weeks' worth of assignments today after sitting in class doing nothing the entire grading period. The student has a behavior contract, so admin is praising the student for finally completing the work and demanding that the teacher accept everything for full credit. But yes, let’s keep pretending “screens” are the main issue in education.

“Dad, can I go with you?” My 6-year-old son asked me that before I went on my morning walk. “Of course, buddy.” We talked bugs, beaches, and “would you rather” questions. Just me and him.  One day he won’t ask anymore. Trying not to take these moments for granted.

@lulumeservey Sexy. I wonder if the one that got launched yesterday came from the electric car apple was supposedly working on all those years. It looks like it’s for Asia, not Europe or North America.

@Glen_Evans_01 @ExnerPirot Just hostile in general. He is the kernel of anti-humanism that is at the core of modern environmentalism personified. A fuzzy little ball of hate.

@ExnerPirot Wow! Good for you for calling this out at the time. People are quick to forget just how hostile he and his ilk were to the West. Much more convenient to scapegoat Smith. The damage to federalism may never be repaired. Sad

As we anticipate his exit, here’s what I wrote about Guilbeault in 2023 when we made him MLI’s Policymaker of the Year: “Guilbeault is very far ahead from industry, the provinces, Canadians, and increasingly his own caucus. He is alienating voters who are concerned more about affordability and housing. There will likely be a backlash. As far as Guilbeault has swung the pendulum to the left, it will come swinging back at him and the Liberals the other way. The energy transition is a marathon, and Guilbeault is a sprinter. One could almost admire Guilbeault’s unwavering commitment to his principles – his willingness to advance his goals in the face of criticism, resistance and alarm. But through his actions, Guilbeault has treated the fact that Canada is a democracy, a market economy, and a federation as inconveniences to be overcome. Canadians that care about these things will find many reasons to be concerned with Guilbeault’s efforts this year. His impact on the nation’s politics and economy will be felt long after his policies have been overturned.” macdonaldlaurier.ca/ruthless-reckl…
