Hon’ble Union Minister of Education, Shri @dpradhanbjp, reviewed the development, preparation, printing, and distribution of NCERT textbooks for Grades 1-8 with a special focus on Class 9. He directed that the printing and distribution of textbooks for all grades should be expedited and completed quickly to ensure easy availability in the market. Further, Hon’ble Minister discussed the time-lines for the development of textbooks for Classes 10, 11 and 12. Emphasising the vision of NEP 2020, he stated that these textbooks will shape the foundation for higher education and higher-order thinking, and therefore must be developed with imagination, foresight, evidence-based understanding, ethical values, skill orientation, and rootedness in our country. He further stressed that the textbooks should reflect emerging scientific, historical, and social contexts, not only of today, but also of the future. As textbooks for the 21st-century, they must address the aspirations of this century and continue to influence learners, across fields, in the decades ahead.
