After more than a week of celebrating a life of a civil rights icon, I hope our nation never forgets the lessons Rev Jackson taught us in advocating for the less fortunate, speaking truth to power, and keeping HOPE alive, especially in these times. GOD bless you Jesse Jackson.

I spent some time with UCLA VC Gordon and staff addressing mental health, self harm prevention, and healing for students. “Hold fast to dreams for if they die, life is just a broken wing bird that cannot fly.” (L Hughes). We must prevent wings from breaking and mend those that do

Today, we honor Brother Malcolm X who was assassinated 60 years ago. We thank him for his struggle, his love of Black people, his fight for self-determination, and his example of the transformative power of the human spirit.

Paying tribute this week to Rev Jesse Jackson. He encouraged us to hope in the midst of despair, have courage in the face of fear, clarity in the climate of doubt, and self-respect in the face of societal denigration. I will miss his voice, his strength, and his courage. RIP

Today I joined the Bakewell family & community officials in celebrating the life & legacy of Dr. MLK Jr. He reminds us that “our lives begin to end the day we become silent about the things that matter.” Justice, education, healthcare, and not killing citizens ought to matter.

IT’S BEEN AN HONOR & PRIVILEGE to serve as President of CSU Dominguez Hills and transform this campus over the past 8 years. Yesterday was my last day in the office and I thank my wife Davida, my exec cabinet, our fac, staff, & students for rolling with me on this journey.

Thanking The Brotherhood Crusade for honoring me with the Pioneer of African American Achievement Award. Phenomenal event; stellar organization, leadership, & impact; and broad community support for CSUDH and this President. Grateful!

Yesterday was an eventful day. I was honored to share lunch with our exceptional Presidential Scholars. Later, I was proud to join colleagues and community partners at the groundbreaking of the new Dymally Institute.

Last night’s gala celebrated the achievements of our students, and I was deeply honored to be recognized for my service as president. We also paid tribute to distinguished leaders and were grateful to share the night with our community partners and students, who make CSUDH thrive

Today, I toured the site of our future Orthotics and Prosthetics (O&P) building, and I’m thrilled by the incredible progress. The vision is quickly becoming reality, and it’s exciting to see how this new space will elevate opportunities for our students, faculty, and community.

Just had the pleasure of touring the new Health, Wellness, and Recreation Center. It’s inspiring to see the remarkable progress being made—this space is truly taking shape. We look forward to all the ways it will serve and strengthen our campus community.

Davida & I spent Saturday afternoon in LA at the annual TASTE of SOUL street festival. What a magnificent opportunity to have fellowship, friendship, food, & festivities with several hundred thousand people embracing the notion of community. Kudos to the Bakewell family.

At DISCOVERY DOMINGUEZ DAY today, The City of Carson surprised & humbled me by deciding to name a street after me. What an honor and blessing for a President as I prepare to step down & retire in 2 1/2 months in Dec 2025.

Great day to showcase all of the great educ experiences at CSUDH. The campus demonstrated why future students should come and get some of what we have to offer. More academic accreditation than ever, 82 majors, new infrastructure, 65% women, & 91% stud of color in the TORO NATION

Thirteen years ago I met Jane Goodall, who we recently lost. She was kind enough to send me a letter the next day thanking me for my hospitality in hosting her for a lecture series at UC IRVINE. She was a blessing to the world and I hope she finds eternal rest & peace.

@BarackObama @MichelleObama Bravo! We celebrated our anniversary of 40 years a week ago as the president and First Lady of Calif State University Dominguez Hills. You two are such role models for us and the nation and we celebrate you and the legacy you continue to build on.

The best decision I ever made was marrying you, @MichelleObama. For 33 years, I’ve admired your strength, grace, and determination — and the fact that you look so good doing it all. Happy anniversary!

Day 2 at CBC Activities brought meaningful dialogue and powerful leadership. I attended engaging town halls, including a session with @Sen_Alsobrooks and @RepMaxineWaters. I was also able to have wonderful conversations with Rep Jennifer McClellan and @RepBonnie.
