CT was just ranked #1 in the nation for patient safety by Leapfrog. That’s a really big deal, and it wouldn’t have happened without the incredible work nurses do each and every day in our state.

What is the Citizens’ Assembly on property tax reform?
It’s a new take on the oldest American ideal: that ordinary citizens, when faced with a shared problem, can come together, find common ground and point their elected leaders in the right direction.
And if you got a letter from me in the mail recently, I hope you’ll consider being a part of this exciting project.

It’s the law: mental health must be treated the same as physical health in Connecticut.
I’ve always believed in this. I’ve been fighting for this. And I won’t stop until everyone has access to the care they need and deserve.

Every worker deserves to be paid fairly for the work they do.
And if a contractor on a taxpayer-funded job is short-changing their workers, then the taxpayer dollars for that project should be paused until all workers get paid what they’re owed.
I’m grateful to the House and Senate for passing this important bill allowing me to protect workers and our taxpayer dollars.

On International Firefighters’ Day, I think about my grandfather, a New Haven firefighter. I think about all the men and women in the fire service who run into chaos when the rest of us are running away.
It’s been my honor to spend much of my public life working to protect and improve benefits for our firefighters and first responders. And I will always continue this important work.

Are you going to provide them a brief on property tax systems and study abstracts? Municipal vs County collection, revaluation schedules, phase in, rolling phase in, chasing sale, LVT, caps, abatements, PILOTs?
All of these things have tradeoffs, have different administrative needs, different long term and short term effects. You are going to give to the 100 people the material to educate themselves on these things right?

She and her husband are getting ready to retire, but because of ever-rising property taxes, they’re scared that after doing everything right for years, they might be forced out of their home. That very same day, we announced Connecticut’s first statewide Citizens’ Assembly, which will bring together 100 people from all walks of life to hopefully help solve this very problem. We’re putting aside politics and the threat of failure to have honest conversations, and I’m hoping we can find real solutions for people like Liz.

Put me on the assembly. Seriously. I own a home in CT and we have commercial property in multiple CT towns, we have skin in the game, and we own commercial property in other states that use different property tax systems. I've seen what works well and what doesn't. Put me in coach.

@danders64 They do, but they aren't. And my belief is that, when they see that ordinary citizens from all walks of life to found consensus on this, they won't be so afraid of doing it either.
