CT’s “fiscal guardrails” were supposed to capture only unreliable revenues — funds that would be there one year but not the next — to pay down debt. But it didn’t work that way. (1/2) ctmirror.org/2024/01/28/ct-…

Sebastian Puche is putting up some crazy numbers in his first DSL season: 21 G .355 BA .517 OBP 1.017 OPS 2 HR 23% BB% (20 BB) 5.7% K% (5 K) The 17-year old catcher is showing off elite discipline for his age, and already cleared the fences twice.

@TylerJennings24 Thanks Tyler! Hoping the Giants snag Eric Booth Jr. How likely do you think it is SF or some other good organization can help Booth to unlock that power tool?

@BenBadler Is it easier for a team to develop hit or power tool? Curious if you think the right organization can unlock Eric Booth Jr.'s power potential?

For the second year in a row, The Astros look to have one of the top prospects in the DSL, and I may honestly like Fermin even more than Kelvin Alvarez. It's a plus projection frame at 6'3 190 and while not the twitchiest player ever, Fermin is a fluid mover who is a functional baseball athlete and could still be growing into more twitch. Across 19 games, Fermin is slashing .368/.513/.596 with 3 HR and is 11/11 in SB attempts. Fermin has a 22.4% BB rate and just a 17.1% K rate due more to DSL pitching and plus zone feel than an overly passive approach. Fermin will likely have some swing and miss down the line due to his longer limbs, but currently has just a 6.9% SWSTR and has a long track record of contact in game. More than just contact, Fermin has been amongst the best at limiting soft contact. Defensively, Fermin projects as an above average defender at 3B, though he will continue to see time at SS. Overall, Fermin looks like a potential genuine above average hit/power with above average speed. He could quickly emerge as a top 100 prospect and has middle of the order upside.

Sharing a few more blurbs from my 40 (non-top 100) breakout prospects article I released yesterday. Find the rest here prospectslive.com/juicys-40-pros… Albert Fermin, SS @astros Why He Made The List Like many multi million dollar international signees Fermin has drawn some crazy comps, but what separates Fermin is that he's a very fundamentally advanced player with extremely notable physical projection. Fermin draws rave reviews for his hittability, rare for a 6'3 teen, and his mature approach where he stays within himself. I've heard people go as high as plus potential on the hit tool and his levers don't look as long as you'd expect given the frame when he's hitting. SS is possible long term, though his plus arm would play well at 3B. Advanced, high make up, tooled up 6'3 SS with long track records of success aren't the worst profile to invest in. What Needs To Happen Fermin needs to prove he's still a nimble athlete at 6'3 and not slow down a ton, while flashing more in-game power and continuining to show his advanced approach. Much easier said than done. End OF Year Projection I think Fermin will likely be on a similar path to fellow org mate where the results will be good, but the power won't fully show up yet in-game and the defense will be better than expected but still raise some long term questions. I expect Fermin to be a popular breakout pick this time next year, but not yet a top 100 prospect.

@jensen_juicy Thanks Alex! Have you any thoughts on Padres’ Ricardo De La Paz? He hasn’t played since June 22 — not sure why — but his wOBA is awesome and his contact% and SwStr% are good for a 16 year old

@AramLeighton8 @The_CallUpPod Loved your interview with Karson Milbrandt, Aram! Is a #2 starter a fair ceiling or too aggressive? And any chance he gets called up to MLB this season?

My top int prospect coming into the year, Angeibel Gomez has done nothing to get pushed off the spot, including hitting his first career HR today, pushing his OPS to 1.358. Potential for five genuine plus tools if it all comes together. Super star ceiling. The @Royals got a good one

Happy DSL debut. So many players I’m beyond excited to get looks at, with Emanuel Luna and Victor Valdez jumping out the most (although my top prospect is still Angeibel Gomez).

@jensen_juicy Thanks Alex. Does Dos Santos have much physical projection? I’ve read he’s pretty slim, even given his age

In case anyone was wondering, Sebastian Dos Santos was 2-for-4 today with another 💣 and his 7th SB. He’s been the most impressive Florida Complex League hitter for me thus far. Was my top DSL performer last year in the league. I’m making sure he’s someone I own in fantasy and I expect to see his real world value shoot up as more stateside scouts get looks on him.

Couple of knocks for Dylan Seward (2027), working the middle of the field. Scored a pair of runs in the leadoff spot for @NorcoBaseball_ . Top ranked player in California, and the country for the 2027 class. #PGHS @PG_Scouting
