Without psychological safety in improvement work, it simply doesn’t stick. You can have the best tools, the smartest people, and the boldest ideas, but if people don’t feel safe to speak up, challenge the norm, or admit when something isn’t working… nothing really changes.

Day 2 and more brilliant leaders discussing their improvement projects across NI social work and social care. I have been so impressed with the work being done and the application of QI methods. Privileged to be there to provide feedback and support. Thanks for the opportunity 🙏

Day 1 of 2 and the 1st group of regional QI social workers presented their projects at the 1/2 way point. So impressed by their understanding of QI methodology and their projects. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings! Thanks to @narferguson for all his hard work coordinating 🙏

I’m grateful for the freedom to develop & deliver my own training. I love working with groups; the learning, conversations & energy. My research @UlsterUni looking at well-being of approved social workers is adding another layer to this re-approval training @BelfastTrust @setrust

Giving a talk or presentation? Here's some excellent advice - four ways to crush it: 1) Understand your audience: "What do really want to know about my topic & why does it matter to them?” 2) Practice "structured improvisation": Most speakers are either "scripters" (stick to a pre-prepared script) or "wingers" (wing it). Be both. 3) Strike a balance between data & stories: Based on the needs of the audience 4) Set a goal to educate or provide insight, not impress: it's about learning for the audience, not about you. insight.kellogg.northwestern.edu/article/want-t… Via @KelloggSchool. Today we launch our Christmas appeal! For women and children experiencing domestic abuse, Christmas can be a dark time of the year. To support our women and children to make this Christmas special, a donation of money, gifts or vouchers would make a real difference.
