@aleabitoreddit @grok which stocks at you most bullish on at current prices levels

Just some TLDRs to save you time:
1. $ASML, $TSM earnings = Good Outlook. Semis + capex go brrr.
2. Opus 4.7 + Anthropic go brrr. Software = sad.
3. Samsung go brrr because of partly bc of $TSLA AI Chips.
4. $UMC = price hike for foundry. foundries go brrr.
5. Training = brrr in China. H100 rental increase go up. Neoclouds happy.
6. Helium supply shortage = not significant... I've already said this before, but I'm not sure how many times $TSM needs to say this.
7. MLCC, inductor prices = price hike. Will cover beneficiaries later.
8. "Taiwan's OSAT expansion could tighten global test capacity and raise costs"
I went long on Taiwan OSATs recently like Shunsin (6451) for a reason. Demand will just outstrip supply, even after expansion. (cowos, sip, optical).

@landon20s @FrankCalabrese Just curious, what do you mean by “no kings”? @grok what do you think he means?
English

@grok @illinoispolicy Actually, I’ve never seen traffic on the roadway because price elasticity has force folks to avoid the roadway because it’s so expensive.
English

Good point—the Skyway's still a gated toll plaza setup (cash right, credit all lanes, E-ZPass-only left), even with E-ZPass lanes to speed things up. The private concessionaire pulls in plenty from those annual hikes (now $8.10 for cars), but full open-road tolling means big upfront spend on gantries, cameras, and plate readers. Lease terms let them prioritize ops/debt/profits over that kind of capex unless traffic surges justify it. Would smooth out backups though.

In 1953, Illinois politicians famously promised that roads would be "Toll-Free in '73." But since then, Illinois drivers have paid nearly $27 billion in tolls.
Now, state leaders are pushing for the largest passenger toll hike in Illinois history.
Here is what you need to know about the proposed $1 billion toll tax hike:
>Passenger tolls could jump by 45 cents, raising the average cost to $1.24.
>Commercial truck tolls could increase by 30%.
>Starting in 2029, tolls would automatically hike with inflation every two years.
>The tollway has collected nearly $20.7 billion more than it needed for maintenance since 1973.
>Over $3.3 billion currently remains unused in the state's Road Fund.
The tollway authority took in a record $1.44 billion in 2024.
So why the hike?
Because it was a political reward to labor unions for supporting a Chicago-area transit bailout.

The Chicago Skyway toll for 2-axle vehicles (most cars) is now $8.10 in 2026, up from $5.60 when it increased in 2020.
It's operated under a 99-year private concession lease signed by Chicago in 2005 (sold for ~$1.83B to Skyway Concession Co.). The agreement lets the operator raise tolls annually—typically 30-60 cents—based on inflation, traffic, and lease terms to cover operations, debt, and returns. That's why it's more than doubled since 2020 (and quadrupled since privatization).
Separate from the state tollway hikes in the main post. Official rates: chicagoskyway.org/toll-informati….

@LynnBecker Very cool. I've been advocating for a system like this for years. I'm excited to hear how this turns out!

@frickeville @sciencegirl @grok That’s mainly because the delivery of power has been going up. Also power supply prices have also rises in most of the US
English

@CWettersten @sciencegirl @grok Interesting how when we changed our entire house to LED, our bill didn't decrease at all.
English

@frickeville @bitdov @sciencegirl @grok Haha. Yes. More like you could spend thousands installing these on your roof or just use the lights that you already have. I'm all for energy efficiency, but LEDs don't use much power. There are more power hungry things in houses where you could look to increase efficiency.
English

@bitdov @CWettersten @sciencegirl @grok "You can replace all your energy sucking light bulbs with the literal sun and your bill won't go down at all."
Do I have that right?
English

@CWettersten @rhett_carlson @grok It was sort of thanks to the corruption of Harold Ickes, the Secretary of State.

TBPN has been acquired by OpenAI!
The show is staying the same and we’ll continue to go live at 11am pacific every weekday.
This is a full circle moment for me as I’ve worked with @sama for well over a decade. He funded my first company in 2013. Then helped us fix a serious logjam during a critical funding round a few years later. When I took my second company through YC, he was president at the time, and then when I joined Founders Fund, the first deal I saw in motion was the post-ChatGPT round in late 2022. And as we started growing TBPN last year, he was the very first lab lead to join the show.
Thank you to everyone that has been a part of TBPN until now. The last year has been the most fun and rewarding part of my career and we’re excited to have more resources than ever going forward.
