@BelfastUrbanist @LonghoC @richardtgarland A new Ireland should absolutely be federated, 5 provincial governments wresting some powers back from central government. Anyone on either side of the border who expects NI to just be absorbed into a 'business as usual' ROI isn't wise.

Because the Republic of Ireland doesn't have climate policy that hinders public transport (the solution to climate issues), they can build (or rather, upgrade) stations AND let them have platform canopies!

@maolroid @OlaLN @gavinsblog Which ring road, for which city, are you using? If the inner ring of Paris then also the north/south circular for Dublin? That's mad, it feels a lot smaller!

@PadraigMacA @adrianweckler Because it would cost several times as much for a lower quality product, these units are effectively 'off the shelf' with a well established operating record on other systems. Maybe we should develop train manufacturing, but it wouldn't be ready by next year when these are needed

The new Dart carriages (2025) have:
- USB power between seats (to stop reaching)
- screens showing which carriages are less full
- open design between carriages to stop people feeling boxed-in or trapped in a threatening sutuation
- space under seats for storage etc

The new hotel in #Portobello didn't get permission for a set down area. So they moved the planters I had put in after they used the harbour as a car park & just painted their own white lines & letters. An incredibly flagrant disregard for planning & public space. Read story 👇

And years ago, long before constantly-on running lights became standard here, I adopted the Swedish practice of always having my side ("parking") lights on when driving in daylight.

Phase One:
The first phase would involve dualling the line between #Belfast & #Ballymena, and tripling of the line between #BleachGreen & #YorkStreet.
Additionally, this means that the #DarganBridge would need to be at least dual track to remove its current bottleneck.

Dualling North is the next logical step to increase connectivity between #Belfast, #Coleraine and #Derry/#Londonderry.
FundTheNINE believes that alongside reopening major rail routes elsewhere, our existing single track network should be upgraded to increase capacity.
