Imagine that. Holding people accountable works Good job Baltimore
Austin Justice@AustinJustice

"Blue cities are radical hellscapes that can't fix crime." Counterpoint: Baltimore. Baltimore had 334 murders in 2022. Last year it had 133, the lowest since 1977. The turning point was that voters defenestrated a Soros-backed prosecutor Marilyn Mosby who averaged 333 homicides a year across eight years and declined to use mandatory minimum sentences. (She was later convicted of mortgage fraud, so there's that too.) Her replacement, Ivan Bates, ran on the Democratic ticket with a simple message: repeat violent offenders belong in prison. Maryland law already allowed five years with no parole for convicted felons caught carrying a gun, but Mosby never used it. Bates used it a lot. In just two years, his office sent more than 2K repeat violent offenders to prison, double his predecessor's TOTAL. The city paired that with a precision intervention program that identified the small number of people driving most of the violence, which led to 631 arrests (94% haven't reoffended). Police also seized 2,480 firearms last year alone, including hundreds of ghost guns, while maintaining a 64% homicide clearance rate. When shooters know they'll get caught and actually prosecuted, behavior changes. Sandtown-Winchester, once the most violent neighborhoods in the city, just went a year without a killing! Carjackings (-51%) and robberies (-24%) are also down. Baltimore didn't change demographics, or its culture, its rules, or much of anything else in those years. It simply voted in a new Democratic prosecutor, who decided the city needed to finally put violent criminals in prison.

If you’re wondering why he would make a statement this ridiculous, from a psychological point of view, this is what it does: it creates doubt where clarity already exists. That is a classic political manipulation tactic. You don’t deny the evidence directly; you simply imply that the public should “wait for details,” which SLOWS moral judgment and protects the side whose ideology may be implicated. He is not speaking to people who already know the facts. He is speaking to people who need permission not to process the facts. His language gives them a psychological escape hatch: “We don’t know yet,” “Don’t jump to conclusions,” “Maybe there are other motives” That protects them from cognitive dissonance. The genius of this kind of framing is that it can manipulate the opposition too. It forces people to waste energy proving what is already visible, while his supporters accuse them of being partisan, MAGA, or inflammatory. That is how gaslighting affects opposition: it turns reality itself into the battlefield. This is how propaganda and political indoctrination work: deny clarity, create doubt, then accuse anyone who names the truth of being partisan.
Barack Obama@BarackObama

Although we don’t yet have the details about the motives behind last night's shooting at the White House Correspondents Dinner, it’s incumbent upon all us to reject the idea that violence has any place in our democracy. It’s also a sobering reminder of the courage and sacrifice that U.S. Secret Service Agents show every day. I’m grateful to them – and thankful that the agent who was shot is going to be okay.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis says he flew migrants into Martha’s Vineyard because he realized Democrats were only importing illegals into places they wouldn’t have to live with them He says Democrats called in the National Guard to remove the illegals he flew in within 24 hours from Martha’s Vineyard Barack Obama and Michelle Obama live there as well as Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton There is no way prominent Democrats were going to allow illegals in their own home towns Ron DeSantis says the illegals even signed papers saying they wanted to live in Martha’s Vineyard…. But unfortunately Democrats didn’t care Hypocrisy

Yup. Oregon is just fine. Everything is fine.
Conservative in Oregon@oregonducksmama

‼️The Democratic Downfall of Portland and Oregon… -Second worst place in America to invest -6.5 million square feet of commercial vacancy -The top 20 office towers have lost 57% of their combined value in 5 years -6,700 jobs lost… 25,000 in population loss -Ranked 80 out of 81 in real estate attractiveness -Over 2000+ overdose deaths in the past few years -Homelessness grew from 4,500+ in 2020 to 11,400+ in 2024 -The overall crime rate is higher or nearly double on specific crimes than the national average -Portland’s combined tax rate for top earners is the second highest in the nation at 13.9% -Oregon’s current fifth graders posted bottom-of-the-barrel math scores that were measurably worse than those in 45 other states -CNBC reports Oregon is one of the worst states for business -Oregon is listed as the fourth-worst place to move to -Office buildings are 30% empty… The iconic U.S. Bancorp Tower just sold for $45 million—80% less than it sold for in 2015 -Major employers like Wells Fargo, Standard Insurance, and Unitus Community Credit Union have fled downtown or left entirely -Portland City Council was proposing defunding the police in favor of park funding just last year -The state’s economists say Oregon is in a growth recession or near-stagnation 👉🏻 Just a reminder that Oregon has a Democrat Supermajority and they have filed so many lawsuits against Trump that we have lost count, so any policies that have ruined this state or Portland should land squarely on them. But yet they still blame Trump?! 🤔😵‍💫

In our homeschool, we don’t do formal grammar or writing lessons until age 10-12. During elementary years we do daily reading and copy work. These two practices combined build strong print and cursive writing, vocabulary, spelling, sentence structure, grammar, punctuation, and content creation. It’s incredible how strong their skills become by first learning them from other writers.

I’ve used AAA for years-response time depends. They partner with local tow companies-I’ve had somebody show up within 15 minutes and I’ve waited two hours I’ve also had the same type of service with toe coverage through my insurance I really think it just depends on the area you happen to be stuck in

If you have used them for things like flat tire or dead battery… How quick can they get there on average? I use my regular insurance but it takes hours and hours sometimes for a response on site.

@CaddyWampas @BrentScher @erichhartmann Should a government employed psychologist with a PhD earn less than a cashier at McDonald’s? You can look up the pay scale for federal jobs. It’s not hard. Maybe private employers need to pay more.

The @GOP had a once-in-a-generation opportunity to make meaningful change in the country. Short of an 11th hour miracle, they’ve pissed it away because they worry too much about upsetting the other side. I’ll never vote for current Democrats because they’re batshit crazy, and I’ll never sit out election because I’m throwing a temper tantrum, but man oh man do Republicans make it hard on their voters.

Indeed, the “Texas started it” premise is incorrect (plus CA already answered). NY Dems went before TX (see below), to say nothing of the wild existing Dem gerrymanders in places like IL & MD. And to say nothing of admitted 2020 Census miscounts robbing red states of 6-10 seats.
Claudia Tenney@claudiatenney

.@AriFleischer please stop saying Texas started this redistricting mess. New York started it. After an extreme gerrymander by NY Dems in 2022, completely ignoring the Independent Commission they created in 2014, the Court of Appeals in NY restored fairness. Then, the Dems sued again in 2024 to overturn the Court of Appeals decision. They bullied 2 Court of Appeals judges off the bench and forced new Dem. favorable maps and the Reps lost 4 seats. In 2026 they AGAiN sued to gerrymander and eliminate the Rep seat in Staten Island and were looking for even more power. The US Supreme Court stopped the nonsense for now. The Dems plan to gerrymander again in 2028. They will stop at nothing and do not care about the people or fairness. This is a bloodsport. The Republicans need to wake up and recognize this fact. Sign the Save America Act into law for starters. And do whatever it takes within the law to ensure that the citizens of this country win.

I remember Abbott threatened to draw a 35-3 map if Newsom moves forward with redistricting in Aug 2025. Even if CA went crazy with 52-0, we’d still be netting a seat in this scenario. He didn’t move forward with it even after Prop 50 passed. We never fight

America's reading problem, explained as if it were sports: Imagine every 8-year-old in the country gets assigned to the same baseball team. 30 kids per coach. The kid who's been swinging since he was 4 and the kid who just picked up a bat yesterday are in the same drill, at the same tempo, getting the same cues. Nobody gets evaluated. Nobody gets a personalized plan. The coach runs one practice for everyone and moves on when the clock runs out, not when the players get it. Some kids are already bored. Some are lost. Most are faking it. This goes on for 12 years. Six hours a day. Every day. At the end, we hold a combine. Only a 1 in 3 of the players can make contact. The rest swing and miss at pitches they should've learned to hit in T-ball. The league's answer? Raise the coaching budget 36%. That's American reading. Per-pupil spending is up 35.8% since 2002, inflation-adjusted. Adults stuck at the lowest literacy level climbed from 19% to 28%. More money in. Worse hitters out.
Athenaeum Book Club@athenaeumbc

About 54% of U.S. adults (ages 16-74) — roughly 130 million people — read below a 6th-grade level. Why does nobody talk about this?

As someone who was literally there and helped the family out as best as I could, ICE wasn't targeting them at all. The dumb parents decided to attend the "protest" in a residential area while leaving their kids in the car. Once irritants and flashbangs started being used to clear people out of the streets, they had more than 2:30 minutes to get in their vehicle that was nearby, and leave. Instead, they decided to stick around which ultimately led to one of the flashbangs rolling under their vehicle and going off, and everyone in the vehicle being exposed to the different irritants in the air. That's all on the parents, not ICE.

This is worth repeating: I never cared that you were gay until you started shoving it down my throat, and I never cared what color you were until you started blaming me for your problems. I never cared about your political affiliation until you started condemning me for mine. I really never even cared where you were born until you wanted to erase my history and blame my ancestors for your problems. I never even cared if your beliefs were different from mine until you said my beliefs were wrong. But now I care. My patience and tolerance are gone, and I am not alone in feeling like this. There are millions of us who feel like this.

No one is more Right-wing than a blue-state conservative. Unless you've seen first hand, up close and personal, the damage that the far-Left is capable of causing, it's all theoretical. I spent the first 25 years of my life in Portland, Oregon. I have seen, with my own two eyes, the real world consequences of far-Left political ideology. Neighborhoods - destroyed. Crime rates - skyrocketing. Small businesses - gutted. Homeless population - through the roof. Illegal aliens - everywhere. Housing costs - stratospheric. Public parks and playgrounds - littered with used needles. Sidewalks - covered in graffiti and human feces. Your old friend from highschool - overdosed, dead. Take it as a warning from me -- we can NEVER let these people win.
