@StephanieS9999 @BallymenaM87946 @LaciCloud @PhilipDwyer_MOI For decades, New York Zionists without a trace of Israeli blood have been invited to a land grab in the West Bank. Evicting & murdering the people who have worked that land for centuries. The government turns a blind eye; that's how much they care about their own people.

@BallymenaM87946 @LaciCloud @PhilipDwyer_MOI Israel protects their own people, can i say the same for my own government? No, that’s what I want, a government that puts Irish people’s concerns first, have you a problem with that? If you do, what’s wrong with you?

@voskat555555 @haynes_wiley @griptmedia A very low BMI will raise as many eyebrows as a very high BMI. The system measures medical interventions & patient satisfaction is part of it; the interventions that fall within the normal range receive less scrutiny. It's that boring - nobody is being targeted.

@haynes_wiley @griptmedia Transition works, actually. After all, it's the medical intervention with the highest patient satisfaction rate out of every medical intervention in existence. Maybe ask yourself why OP is lying through his teeth about what the study says.

Irish center right boomers are beginning to do the MAGA/ brexiteer shift. Where, as evidence mounts that their beliefs don't work, their cognitive dissonance turns increasingly radicalized. Visible on here in the RTE pundit and Irish Times Op Ed class. Sharing far right BS.

@deanbhoy2 @travelingflying He is making a relevant take on Marx & Engels, agreeing that the Irish were fulfilling their duty to demand Sovereignty utilising the power of Nationalism as a protection from being absorbed into imperialism driven by Capitalism - the nineteenth-century version of global capital.

“Ireland didn’t colonize anybody; they were a colony. They suffered terribly. They were willing to be brutalized, occupied, starved, all of these things for centuries to defend their little slice of the world, and yet Ireland is on track to be a minority Irish by 2070. I don’t like that. People think diversity means every place in the planet should look like Jackson Heights in NYC, but that’s not diversity at all. Diversity is that when I go to Ireland, it’s Irish.”

"Israel wants to live in peace with its neighbours" is the biggest lie of all time. This is the West Bank. No Hamas, no war, yet attacked like this daily by "settlers" backed by the IDF. A savagely violent Jewish supremacy armed by the EU/UK/US

@sappholives83 Accurate, But if he went nice to the usual designated 'paid off staff room permanent fixture', which is historically not uncommon in Ireland - there would never have been pressure on the education system to justify the formal policy on gender (If there is one?)

I’m going to get a lot of flak for this.c but I don’t care. This Enoch Burke stuff is bullcrap. I’m as anti-genderism as it gets, but there has been a deliberate effort by Burke and his supporters to present events in a dishonest light. First of all, Burke is not in jail for refusing to use they/them pronouns; he’s there because he refuses to obey the no trespassing order he’s been given. Every time they let this guy out of jail, he goes right back to the school, and I’m sorry, but that’s not the same thing as being a real prisoner of conscience. Furthermore, his wife and mother were not arrested for visiting him; they were arrested on a warrant for contempt stemming from their disruptive behavior in the courtroom last month. The jail is just where the police caught up to them after they skipped their court dates. Mr. Burke was indeed fired over an issue of conscience, but his behavior since has been inappropriate, dishonest, antagonistic, and on numerous instances, a direct violation of a court order to stay away from the school he was fired from. He has frightened children and staff, and seems incapable of understanding that he no longer works there. His presence is a deliberate disruption and in today’s world, threatening. I really don’t appreciate the dishonesty in the way Burke has presented his side of events. This is the kind of behavior one would expect from TRAs, and it makes us look bad when we support him. Mr. Burke long ago crossed the line of what is appropriate when it comes to his behavior, and until he can accept that he has lost his job and move on, jail is probably the best place for him.
Enoch Burke@EnochBurke

BREAKING: Enoch Burke’s mother and sister arrested and jailed Martina and Ammi Burke were arrested by Gardaí today at Castlerea Prison after visiting jailed schoolteacher Enoch Burke, their son and brother. Judge Brian Cregan sentenced them to two weeks in prison after they spoke out against his lies and unlawful actions in the case of Enoch Burke. Martina and Ammi Burke had been teaching in Castlebar this morning before travelling to Castlerea for their scheduled visit at 2.15pm. As they left the prison after concluding the visit, Gardaí were waiting outside to arrest them. Lies have been told from the bench since September 2022 when Enoch Burke was first taken from his teaching post at Wilson’s Hospital School and thrown into a jail cell. He refused to call a student by a new name and the “they” pronoun. He was subsequently suspended and has now spent over 600 days in prison. Ireland’s church leaders have maintained a treacherous silence on this issue. Archbishops Eamon Martin and John McDowell speak frequently about battlefields far away - Gaza, Ukraine, the Middle East - but are silent on the battlefields in the schools of Ireland, on their own doorstep. Children in the classroom are being educated in every form of sexual perversion. Martina and Ammi Burke have now been sent to Mountjoy Women’s Prison because they refused to be silent in the face of gross injustice from the bench. Parents, rise up and speak out for your sons and your daughters.

@timjmb @SuzieD755164 @caitrionanolan8 We are of the Roman tradition, which is not a monotheistic faith insofar as we hold room for Saints. The Irish traditionally embraced this more than most. 'Jesus is king' is monotheistic. Nihilistic Globalisation destroys sovereign shared cultures; this is no different IMO

Moneylenders aka Loan Sharks were (and still are) a parasitic scourge on Irish families. But housewives and single mothers in particular had to deal with intimidation and extortionate rates to make ends meet. Working class Dubliners didn’t go to the bank when they were short in the 1940s right up to the current day. Dublin in the 20th century was a city run on tick. Formal credit was a fantasy for most families. Wages were low, banks didn’t want your kind, and social welfare wouldn’t stretch to shoes for the children or unexpected events like having to fix a washing machine or burying your dead. So whoever controlled the purse strings or did the family budget turned to the moneylender. Some were licensed, most were not. Some were aulones who seemed to have your best interests at heart. But it was th bleedin "interest" that would trap you in a perpetual cycle of debt. Others were more stereotypical hard chaws. Ex-prisoners, car park attendants, or self-styled “businessmen” with a fistful of cash to launder a reputation that didn’t need explaining. And they charged up to 200%, and more in their filthy usury! This was technically illegal after the 1933 Moneylenders Act, which tried to drag the whole operation into daylight. There are tales of desperate borrowers in the Four Courts records, trying to wriggle out of impossible debts. Civil cases from the 1910s, 30s, and even into the 70s where someone stood up against extortionate interest rates. But this was seldom the real victims, who were predominantly wives and mothers of working class familes. And for them, the exploitation and injustice was cemented with the social shame. Moneylending was a woman’s burden. Mammies borrowed for schoolbooks, communion dresses and coal. And also for those unpredictable incidents and tragedies that could make a family hungry as well as grieving. And it was women who had to hide with the kids behind the couch when the man knocks on the door. By mid-century, the scene had shifted. The tenement ladies gave way to men with muscle. You could findn them outside the bookies, and at the taxi ranks, or famously minding cars by the Green or on Leeson Street. I was able to find a few nicknames mentioned when I researched Lockhard Men. Loansharks had names like “The Judge”, “Big Mick” and “Joe the Parker”. And some of these lads had little business empires, protecting car parks, secondhand shops fencing gear and lock-ups full of collateral from unpaid loans. Mercifully by the 1970s the Credit Union movement, rooted in Catholic parish activism, spread like wildfire. Suddenly, there was another option with fair rates and no shame or gurries on your doorstep. It didn’t kill the loan sharks, but it started to starve them. And yet, even into the 90s and beyond, there was the Provident Man and the little army of women collecting for him weekly with their books and catalogues. Vultures who could turn a desperate families £50 loan in to a perpetual debt. @SuzieD755164 @caitrionanolan8 'Christ is King' is not authentic to Irish Catholicism; it's a totem for US-style Groyers to get behind. They believe in nothing but see the aesthetics of Catholics as giving the appearance of being rooted in tradition If they kill our traditions as a byproduct, it is what it is

@Trickstersworld @TortoiseShack Not sure if the old times you pine for, when neo-liberal capitalism was delivering, were so flawless? It may have been better today had the anti-nationalism vaccine delivered by global bourgeois institutions been met with scepticism rather than the end-of-history shoulder shrug?
