bm everyone,
Today is my last day at Berachain.
Among all the places I've worked in the last 10 years, this has easily been the best. I joined the team a couple years back excited to not only put bears on the blockchain, but to work with an elite team building out a crazy experiment.
I didn't know just how much I'd love working with this crew, through highs (Boyco) and lows (also Boyco), and it was very hard to make the decision to move on. This remains one of the most talented, passionate, and familial cultures in the space, and I know that there's still a lot of passion and drive to improve from the top down.
After a lot of hard work over the last 6 months, PoL vNext is going live soon with some initial case studies (see Smokey’s new tweet), so it felt like a logical point to take a step back and get back to building 0->1.
Huge amount of thanks to @SmokeyTheBera for taking a bet on me, and thanks to everyone for the small moments, the comraderie, and the support.
It's been an honor and a pleasure.

I'm excited to share that I've joined the @conduitxyz team where I'll be accelerating the capabilities of EVM chains, starting with performance.
From there, my team will push the bounds as we pair our core dev expertise with a deep understanding of customer workloads. This will create an unparalleled end user experience that wouldn't be possible on general purpose chains, achieved by leveraging the modularity of Reth.
My thesis is that the best blockchain engineering talent will progressively concentrate in teams that have a scope of impact beyond individual chains, and Conduit is leading the charge. We're in the arena and shipping aggressively, so if you're interested in working with us, reach out!

Excited to share the draft proposal for a preconfirmation system on @berachain that will put us top of category in transaction inclusion latency - over a 10x improvement.
The design leverages Beacon-Kit, our custom consensus client and Bera-Reth, our modular execution client. Owning these components enables an entirely new design space with performance benefits.
TLDR;
- UX unlock for high speed apps
- No additional binaries to run for validators
- Opt-in for reorg sensitive applications
Please review the architecture proposal and drop feedback on the forum post. I'll also be at devconnect to talk tech 👇

just tested it myself and consistently got sub 2 seconds wall time pre-confirmation receipts, even with Ethereums 12 block time. preconf guarantee is a bit sus with raft consensus network but still impressive given technical constraints
bera with full BFT consensus finality receipts in sub 3s wall time, but i'm not satisfied yet. more to come.
txs were sent with pre-populated fields to minimize tx setup rpc calls as that plays a big role in perceived latency

I’ve often told people that part of the job in crypto is to turn one half of your brain on super hard and turn the other half off completely. For example this whiteboard session would probably be nonsensical to the most competent systems engineer, but at the same time is pushing the “frontier” of L1 system design.

Have you been in a FakeTaxi? Owning a piece of their content/creativity isn't a 'shitter'. If you’re into other content feel free to goon to whatever you like though. This is just an example. Each to their own.

Team will do an office hours + release more info soon but TLDR:
- real-time streaming of BGT
- updates to your cutting board will now activate instantly
- meaning every time you “earn BGT” (for a valid block proposal), you can instantly choose there and then which protocols your rewards will stream too
- no queueing changes or delay required as was previously the case
- allows validators to choose and implement a “strategy” within their node which automates the process of selecting protocols to stream BGT to (roughly based on which protocols offer the highest incentives)
- can get pretty creative here. Future PoL upgrades could allow protocols to update their incentive stream rates in a similarly, more precise manner

@CalBera_ @0xRavenium Would appreciate education on why I would / how I could use the new functionality. Right now I can’t think of why whether or not I get bgt same block or few blocks later makes any difference to the decisions I make as a validator.
English

@berastotle @0xRavenium Technically they can include their cutting board update in the block they build as the BGT distribution is now guaranteed to happen for them at the top of the next block
English

@berastotle @0xRavenium BGT distribution happens every block -> allows validators to update their cutting board before every block they build -> they “fill” their cutting board with the highest “bids” (protocols’ incentives) on the “order book” -> market made.
