@DavidFurones_ So many other countries more than capable of hosting an excellent World Cup as we’ve seen over the last handful of tournaments. It’s the World Cup, to be player by the world, around the world.

FIFA should just have America host every World Cup. Where else in the world do you have this many elite stadiums in cities capable of handling such an influx of foreign visitors? And it lines up with the American football offseason for easy conversion to soccer for the venues.

@AdamMMasin I think it’s happening. Difference with the players coming here now they are 30+ they still have options in big European leagues, that wasn’t the case 10 years ago. Now these players have seen it here maybe there’s more of an attraction to come earlier.

@CalWilliamsComm Henry went to RBNY well before he lost good European options because he wanted to live in New York. Surprised that hasn’t been more of a trend. Should be.

Salah would be amazing, but operating in a realistic realm…. Having seen him in person several times, Yann Gboho would be an absolutely top tier signing for #SKC. A player I expected to end up at the top end of France, or in Spain/Germany, coming to #MLS is a great sign.
Tom Bogert@tombogert

To reiterate a word @PaulTenorio and I used: Longshot. More advanced discussions are over Andre Luiz and Yann Gboho, two players likely to cost $18-20m each. SKC looking to make good on promise of more investment/ambition this summer.

Really good move for Reynolds. Bigger club, bigger league, more exposure and at a team playing in the Europa League. #Rennes conceded more than anyone in the top 6 in #Ligue1 last season; this was much needed.
Tom Bogert@tombogert

🇺🇸 Sources: Stade Rennais has completed a deal to sign American wingback Bryan Reynolds from Westerlo. Fee around $5m. Reynolds, 25, joined Westerlo in 2022. Made 146 apps for the Belgian club. Off to Ligue 1 now

@Pantsalot11 You guys just need help and support from US Soccer. Theres no way there’s a realistic need of a $200 registration fee per child!

@CalWilliamsComm If you do local tournaments I believe that would be around $500-$700 per tournament. Uniforms I just paid for were $400, though if I did it I would easily reduce that but still probably $150/kid. There are other registration fees w/state organizations $200/kid I think.

Lex, growing up I paid £2 to use the training facilities or fields on a Thursday night or Sunday morning. So many have this figured out. I get there’s travel needs in the US, but it doesn’t need to cost what it does.

Youth soccer (youth sports) is a competitive market with businesses selling a product that obviously customers are willing to pay for. I’d love if soccer was free to all. But who is going to pay for all this free soccer?

@Pantsalot11 I’ll trying to understand why it’s the way it is. What you guys are doing is incredibly important for the game here, but so far I’ve just been met with push back. Tell me why it is the way it is…..

@CalWilliamsComm If you have the solution fix it. Otherwise you’re just parroting what everyone else says for likes. The reality of trying to run a free club in the US is significantly more challenging than people are willing to admit. It’s a huge effort & leaves those doing it stretched thin.

@CalWilliamsComm Then come fix it. Easy to criticize when you don’t have to actually do any of the work.

@CalWilliamsComm Ugh. Yet another uninformed, yet strong opinion. There's no shortage of fields to play FREE soccer on in the US. We have other sports, too. Not every athlete here chooses soccer. The pay to play is the higher-end level and soccer camps. Pay to play isn't the ONLY option.

@CalWilliamsComm Sounds great. When are you going to head up this simple project and when do you anticipate having it implemented throughout the country?

@CalWilliamsComm They don’t “stop playing” that’s totally false. Every high school has a soccer team. However they probably don’t develop as high as kids who can afford it which is a valid concern. However, most clubs have kids on free rides if they are good enough. The clubs want to win

@MarkFrommage You just don’t have to run it the way it is. It’s pretty simple 🤷‍♂️

@LegendaryTakes Yes you can. There are rules in place that make it less common. But the main obstacle is that so many stop playing because of the costs.

@CalWilliamsComm In the US we can’t sign poor kids to contracts, develop them, then sell them to Manchester City for $30M. We have tons of low cost youth sports, TONS. But they aren’t going to develop your kid into a pro

@LegendaryTakes Over those that can’t afford it? What’s the purpose of a youth soccer club? It’s supposed to be developing young players and making them better, is it not?

@chartingthehaw1 Good for them, but not everyone is ok with it because they can’t afford it. They’d love nothing more for their children to have even half a chance of a career, but considering what it costs in the US to play at the youth level it’s impossible. You lose so much potential here.

@CalWilliamsComm Fields are free or cheap here (unless you live in a highly dense urban area), what Alexi is getting at is that a large number of parents are ok with the current situation considering they continue voluntarily paying into it.
