@LokiJulianus College athletics in every other sport has shwon there are "late bloomers" who go from good to great from ages ~18-21, but soccer nerds think this is somehow impossible for their sport.

Q: "I read that you were inspired when you were in Scotland to one day open a golf course where kids could play for very little and really encourage them to play." Ryan Gerard: "Yeah, I was over here maybe 10-12 years ago, there's something really cool about the culture where there's a pub, then there's a kid's course that's either free or like five pounds or whatever it is. That's not a model we really have in the United States, and I think it would encourage a lot more people to get out there and get involved if that were the case."

About CUT STREAKS... the way the PGA Tour counts them... they're really "in the money" streaks... which is why no-cut events are counted. So with that in mind... Here's a little perspective on Historic "Cut Streaks" • 142 - Tiger Woods... but 31 were no-cut events (mostly WGCs and ToCs), so that nets to 113 consecutive "with cut" events where he made the cut. • 113 - Byron Nelson - Interestingly, Nelson at 113 is the same as Tiger's net of 113, but he had no-cut events too... read on. Back in Byron's day, a lot more guys made cuts, but usually only low 20-something finishers where paid. But Byron did a LOT better than just cash checks... all but 3 of his 113 were T10 or better. And not that it mattered back then, but at least 10 of Nelson's events were no cut (every player in the field paid). Those were some of the smaller 4-ball and round-robins that were common in those days. Also of note, Byron's 113 streak was bookended by WD's that would of broken any cut streak, even by today's standards. 105 - Jack Nicklaus - By Jack's day, the full field making the cut were paid, so unlike Nelson, Jack didn't have to finish top-20 everytime. So we see T20-30-40 somethings in his ledger. However, only 26 of his 105 were T11 or higher. But Jack also played in at least 9 no-cut events. So that brings his net down to 96... BUT WAIT... the British Open wasn't counted as official back when Jack played and he played 6 of those in his streak. So if we want to add those, Jack would be at 111 gross, 102 net with no-cut events removed. 86 - Hale Irwin - includes at least 6 no-cut events bringing his net down to 80. But he too played 4 British Opens in that span, so if we wanted to count those it would be 90 gross, 84 net. 78 - Scottie Scheffler - Includes 25 no cut events, bringing his net made cuts to 53. ONE MORE - - BEN HOGAN 177 or 96 or 68? Over the years, there have been several articles saying Hpgan might have a cut streak of as much of 177. But problem was, record keeping was poor in those days, so no-cash events might not show up in the records. And sure enough, later research on all of Hogan's starts indicates Ben's longest possible "made cut" streak would have been 96. And like Nelson, the 96 streak was bookended by a WD and a DQ that would have broken a cut streak even by today's standards. However, Hogan had a no-cash T38 within that 96 streak, meaing his longest "in the money" streak would be 68.

In Kansas City, immigration officials are reportedly stopping people who are walking down the street and demanding proof of legal status. There is no legal requirement to carry proof of legal status with you at all times. Is this the America we want? (video from kansascitydiscovery on Instagram)

The REAL Scottie Scheffler streak that snapped today? 37 consecutive top-25 finishes. Nearly two years worth. THIRTY-SEVEN.

@acaseofthegolf1 Fair enough, but this is hardly unique to golf. If we counted postseason HR totals in MLB and guys on playoff teams got 15-20 extra games, we'd have a similar issue.

@acaseofthegolf1 The problem with cuts is that now we have 2 rounds of Scheffler compared statistically against 4 rounds of guys who made the cut. Scheffler will have a better SG per round than those who made it to and had a terribel weekend. Cuts aren't a panacea.

Y’all being locked in on Scottie grinding his ass off is why cuts matter and why I’m glad the tour is bringing them back in most events in 2028.

@MLShater This is what happens when you play around with the ball in your own box/half. Multiple goals in the WC were given away b/c the team didn't just clear it out. Amazing how much soccer is poorly played at even the highest level.

Why did Matt Freese do that? Like what did he see in front of him that made him not smash his laces through that ball? Such a demoralizing goal to concede. Game absolutely over.

Lorenzo Salgado Araujo called Houston home for 35 years. On Tuesday, an ICE agent shot and killed him. His family learned of his death from a video before anyone bothered to knock on their door. New York City stands with the Salgado family in demanding a full, independent investigation and real accountability. To the Salgado family and any immigrant family in this city living in fear: we grieve with you and we will continue to stand beside you in the pursuit of justice. Abolish ICE.

ICE agents shot and killed an unarmed civilian in Houston, Texas. The victim was a construction worker, a father of three US citizens, had lived in the US for 35 years and was applying for a work permit. He panicked and tried to flee when he mistook masked, armed ICE agents for thieves.
