I’m offended by the way he phrased this. First - have you ever heard him read a speech. I have and it’s embarrassingly awful. Second - you can say secondary teachers need additional training, which is true, without saying they are bad at it. Many secondary teachers have extensive training in reading and have reading endorsements.

The Nevada Ethics Board found Lt. Gov. Stavros Anthony violated state law by using official platforms for political advocacy. Not for what he said, but how he used his position to say it. That distinction matters. Because here in CCSD, we’ve seen elected officials use their title, visibility, and public platforms to amplify advocacy on controversial issues, then fall back on “free speech” when questioned. But governance isn’t about whether you can speak. It’s about how you show up in your role when you do. If the standard is misuse of position at the state level, what’s the standard locally? Nebraska just removed $3.5 M in voucher funding; for now. Nevada should be paying attention. We’re already seeing the same national playbook show up here, groups like Moms for Liberty and Turning Point USA pushing “school choice” narratives and influencing local conversations, including school board dynamics. Teens Are Sleeping Less. Why PARENTS Should Be Worried and schools should keep calm and carry on. There, I fixed it for you. If a student falls asleep in my class, I do one health check and then let the student sleep. An email gets sent home and to the counselor each time, but that’s it. Not my job to keep them awake.
