Been catching up with ex-Mets from my reporting days as they face the Pirates. Not too many remain, but had the pleasure to briefly chat with Michael Conforto today. Also have caught up with Jacob deGrom, Steven Matz and Zack Wheeler. Unfortunately missed Brandon Nimmo in Texas.

Felt like it took every reliever this side of Jesse Orosco for Mets to nail down win as Reds somehow left 17 runners on. Good signs from Benge, who got the barrel to tough pitches in RBI spots, and Tong, whose new cutter was effective 3rd pitch. All about developing the kids now.

Stearns has presided over mostly bad Mets teams. But his job is org-wide, & changing FO every 2 years is not how successful orgs operate: Sandy, Porter, Scott, Eppler & Stearns is already too many. Add a lockout & Theo having not run a FO in 6 yrs — this is not a good idea. #LGM

I am guilty, #Mets fans. Guilty for believing that David Stearns was the right person for this job. Guilty for believing that, despite the enormously unpopular fan outrage, the revamped roster was good enough to win the NL East. I have no idea how this season will eventually turn out, but as we stand here on May 26, the outlook is bleak. Imagine if @StevenACohen2 had purchased a priceless piece of art, only to discover it was a fake. He would immediately seek retribution. That's what has happened here. The #Mets need an organizational purge; it's as simple as that. There's really only one person who can save the #Mets. Make him an offer he can't refuse. Otherwise, this franchise is doomed.
