Since people seem to have missed this one, unsealed in the Smith filing: -Trump used a burner phone, routed through a foreign country to contact Michigan house speaker. -He tried to pressure the speaker in this off book call. -Speaker McCarthy knew about the burner phone line. -The phone showed up as “Spam Risk Egypt” on caller ID. If the President thought his attempt to overturn the election and forge elector documents were legitimate “official acts” why was he using an insecure, foreign routed burner phone for these calls? How many other sensitive calls did the former President have on this unencrypted line with coconspirators, that could now be used as blackmail against him, by any foreign nation which may have tapped that line? (And before the reply bots get here, let me remind them: Trump’s own legal team did not dispute the authenticity of *anything* unsealed from the Smith filing)

There are some good progressive PACs, but there are some bad ones too. @TurnoutPAC (and its affiliate @StopGOP_ ) have opted for hardcore email/text practices. Support grassroots orgs that build infrastructure the right way, not by scamming old people.

The race to replace Feinstein is tight. There are a lot of undecided voters out there. But among likely voters, @EricEarly_CA has support from 18%, nearly all Republicans. @katieporteroc is close behind with 17%, followed by @AdamSchiff with 14% and @RepBarbaraLee at 9%

Disappointing clever wording to sensationalize rich "moving out." Facts: 1) $2+MM earners in CA has doubled in past decade. 2) Vast majority that left SF stayed in CA. 3) Misleading to focus on General Fund. Income Tax <50% of all state revenues, so richest pay <25% of revenues.

Gov. Newsom vetoed our legislation to authorize SF, Oakland & LA to implement safe consumption sites. The veto is tragic & a huge lost opportunity. These sites are proven to save lives & connect people to treatment. Sad day for CA’s fight against overdose deaths. My statement:

Lots of sex shaming of gay men around monkeypox. The same shaming we saw in the 1980s re HIV. Lecturing people not to have sex isn’t a public health strategy. It didn’t stop HIV — it made it worse — & it won’t stop monkeypox. What will work is vaccination, testing & education.

I’ve never been arrested before but I can hear the late congressman John Lewis imploring me to get in good trouble. We must be willing to speak out for patients who have the right to health care, and the fundamental right to bodily autonomy.
