Repentance: I am now an Ataturk-style moderate Muslim not an extremist alhamdulillah. I no longer believe in Sharia, hijab, wala and bara, the hellfire, the day of judgement, paradise, the Quran, or the Sunnah. Today I also ordered my wife to stop wearing hijab.

@messi313aa @brethrenfpurity What? So some western scolar found similarities between surat al ikhlas and biblical passages? Or the itslian philosopher? This means absolutely 0 and the compatibility between them isnt that big, they both conclude that god is one and there is non like to him…

In this article, Zinner argues that Q 112 Surah al-Ikhlas has some structural similarities with Parmenides' poem on the nature of reality.

Indeed President @realDonaldTrump you are so right, Europe is being invaded and it’s killing us, we have to stop mass immigration and we have to do it now! We must close our borders for illegals and deport them. Europe is NOT an Islamic continent.

Dr Yasir says he was just describing two epistemologies: the Islamic tradition and the Western academic method. But let’s actually look at how he talks in the video. “As for definitively stating that the hadith go back to the Prophet ﷺ, at this stage of my life, I will have to say: this is what I say as a believer, not as an academic…” “..if somebody proves me wrong, then I would love to come across that and say ‘no no, we can prove academically…'” “We can academically prove, by and large, that the Prophet ﷺ preached the Qur’an… that’s like a solid given…the academy has pretty much proven, scientifically…through the historical critical method, that there is an ‘Uthmanic Mus-haf. That much is beyond reasonable doubt.” “As of yet, I don’t think we can do that to the hadith literature.” “So when I become Sheikh Yasir, I will quote Sahih Bukhari…that’s the preacher. …In the academy, I cannot quote Bukhari and [assume] this will be [considered] what the prophet ﷺ said.” Forget what he "means" for a second: what in the WORLD do you think people are going to take from that?! You can’t just mention “two epistemologies” and expect that to neutralize everything. The language he uses isn’t neutral at all. One side is about “science”, “proof”, and being “beyond reasonable doubt.” The other is something you only say as a believer, or when you’re in preacher mode. That’s the impression that sticks. That’s what people hear, and that’s the problem. And when you step back and look at the bigger picture, other things Dr Yasir has said over the years make this even clearer. Below are some examples from his “advanced” Aqidah course (all of which, along with detailed commentary and responses, can be found in brother Bassam Zawadi’s review of the course). He says: “"I have studied at advanced institutions in the Islamic world. I have hundreds of books on theology written by Muslims and non-Muslims. And this type of [Western academic] writing that we are reading, it is simply non-existent in the Muslim world. Simply non-existent. I studied Mutazilism, and Ash'arism, and Najdism, I studied this in Medina with experts in the field. And masha'Allah, they have done a lot of good work…. And then you read this type of [Western academic] stuff and not only do they do a better job and [are] more accurate, they also go far more detailed...And I hope if you read these articles with an open mind, you will see for yourself; there is nothing equivalent."” This isn’t just someone appreciating Western academia. It's someone openly dismissing the entire Islamic tradition as methodologically inferior. On Josef van Ess's work on Islamic theology, Dr Qadhi says: "When I came from Medina to Yale, and I was exposed to this book in German..and I'm just fresh out of Medina…..and I found this book and I was almost literally drooling. Like I could not believe that one person had done this...” This is the kind of thing you say when you’re in awe. It's not just "being descriptive" about two different paradigms. This is someone who’s clearly impressed to the point of romanticizing the West’s handling of our tradition. He also said: "The notion of being academic and neutral and liberal and open-minded. This is something that could only come out of our generation because, frankly, it's unheard of in the past to contextualize the way we are [currently] doing and to say: ‘You know what? I see where you're coming from. I see where you're coming from.’ It would be very difficult to do. Even somebody that I respect like Ibn Taymiyyah is only able to do it for sonte issues, and not others. In the attributes, he's not sympathetic at all. And he's very black and white. It's either this way, or else you have gone into deviancy. The flipside, our detractors accuse us, accuse me, of being a product of a Western mind, a Western education. And the response is: You know, you're right. That's a fact. That the way I'm thinking, and this "agreeing to disagree" is something you don't find generally speaking in other parts of the world. But just because this paradigm is coming from Western academia, does that make it wrong? Is that invalid? And that's the deeper question that we need to then prove to our detractors” Again, that’s not the voice of someone merely "being descriptive" about two epistemologies. It’s someone who’s internalized one of those epistemologies and is now defending it against its inferior traditional counterpart. He clearly treats Western academic tools as serious, scientific, objective, and credible, and the Islamic tradition as a system that operates on uncritically inherited commitments, is closed to external critique, and is ultimately unable to produce the kind of verifiable claims that the “modern academy” recognizes as intellectually authoritative.
Dr. Yasir Qadhi@YasirQadhi

Just to be clear, I am obviously being descriptive in that lecture. What I said is factually correct: the Western academy has a different paradigm than the believing Sunni Muslim when it comes to hadith. I explicitly said when I preach I will quote Sahih al-Bukhari as an evidence of what the Prophet (SAW) said, but I understand when I write papers or present in the Academy, that won't be taken as definitive evidence. It appears your clip is giving the impression I endorse the HCM paradigm, but as I explained, I live in both worlds and must navigate that in my life as I preach and as I present papers.

This so-called “balanced approach” is deceiving, to say the least. You’re quoting Shams al-Deen -a known deviant and self-proclaimed student of knowledge who openly slanders major scholars of Ahl al-Sunnah- as an example of wisdom and balance? That alone says a lot. And ironically, Farid himself didn’t post anything about the passing of Shaykh Rabee’ al-Madkhali (رحمه الله). Not that it’s obligatory, but the silence is telling. What exactly are you trying to convey here? Are you aligned with the manhaj of Shaykh Rabee’ or with the likes of Shams al-Deen? Or are you just going to keep hiding behind ambiguity and vague statements while trying to appease both sides? It’s not balance…it’s confusion.
Farid@Farid_0v

Muhammad Shams al-Deen has a 20+ video playlist called: Responses to the Madkhali group. However, when Rabee' al-Madkhali passed away, he wished for him the mercy of Allah (subhanahu wa ta'ala). One may massively disagree with others but still wish for them the mercy of Allah.
