@adamwathan Oh boy, that’s heartbreaking. I hope it went well, and the family are all doing ok. We have an upcoming surgery for my daughter & already thought it was hard with it being scheduled. I couldn’t imagine the weight of the stress with an emergency & at such a young age.

"Why do you need generics if they are already available with docblocks?" The syntax is only part of the reason. I just had to jump through a lot of hoops to keep PHPStan happy, while also having proper autocompletion in PhpStorm. Every vendor does its own thing, and they aren't 100% compatible. That's why I want official generics.

Oh boy, it’s the perfect situation for this meme to be at maximum hilarity, but its stark reality unfortunately makes it less funny…

The only time I use worktrees is when we have an ongoing process on the main clone, where I need to switch branches quickly, do many issues to support an initiative. A good example was when our most recent security audit. Then it just made it easier to have an isolated IDE window in a separate worktree with any other work I wanted to be doing. I’m not sure it was the best way to handle to handle it; would discrete checkouts have worked? Maybe… but it did give me some confidence in separation of audited code versus other issues I was working on.

Why do people like git worktrees over discrete checkouts? (This isn't bait, it's research)
