@cb_doge But it wasn't a problem for years when black people were excluded from awards , did Marlon Brandon not famously refuse an award to force better treatment for minorities, Elon you're just stupid and ignorant

David Rubin served as President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences from 2019 to 2022. In 2020, under his leadership, the Academy launched the “Representation and Inclusion Standards” for Best Picture eligibility. These rules, still in effect, require films to meet at least 2 of 4 diversity criteria involving race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or disability in on-screen roles, creative leadership, or crew. Rubin publicly backed the changes and helped appoint the task force co-led by producer DeVon Franklin. He shifted the Oscars from “best movie wins” to race/gender engineering. A film can now be ineligible for the top prize purely for failing demographic quotas, regardless of quality or audience impact. Instead of focusing purely on talent and storytelling, the Academy under Rubin institutionalized identity preferences. Oscars prestige and viewership have tanked. Many see it as performative politics over art. Classics with non-diverse casts would be disqualified. He helped install the DEI machinery that turned awards into checkboxes and accelerated Hollywood’s quality decline.

I think the discourse we really need to have on mom twitter is why so many moms of boys become enmeshed with their sons to the point of sabotaging their son’s marriage.

Hi friends, I'll be going home on Saturday, weak and weary, but better. Haven't been able to go through all of your prayers and well wishes, but Mr. Mason shared many with me. Again, my friends are wonderful, just best a girl could ask for. From my (very tired) heart, thank you.

The entire discourse around this post is very strange. No one should be purposely alienated. But a woman wanting to see her parents immediately after birth while simultaneously wanting to wait to see anyone else is not “alienating” anyone. That is just basic recovery from one of the hardest experiences of a woman’s life. Post birth is a VERY vulnerable time, emotionally and physically, for the majority of women. VERY. I’m sorry, but the needs & feelings of the mother & baby DO trump anyone else’s immediately after birth. The husband’s parents should understand that their daughter-in-law needs her mom at that time AND she needs some time before seeing anyone else without taking it personally or feeling jaded.
Taryn@TarynA83

Ladies. I am telling you this right now. Your husband’s family matters when you have a baby. You can say they aren’t allowed in for delivery. You can ask for limited time visits. You can ask for your husband to entertain and introduce the baby if you want to stay in bed. BUT- asking his parents/grandparents to wait to meet them while you let your family in is cruel and selfish. EVEN IF they might annoy you, or his mom is an attention hog, your baby is just as much your husband’s. Your recovery needs matter, but alienating them is wrong.

Before Florida became endless traffic, luxury apartments, and chain stores, there were roadside orange stands like this everywhere. 🍊 Fresh squeezed juice, wooden crates, old wagons parked outside, and the smell of citrus the second you rolled the windows down. Real Floridians remembers this. How many of you actually stopped at places like this as a kid?

Grandmas. If you want time with the baby, make life EASIER for the new mom, not harder. Provide meals. Clean the house. Do laundry. Offer to get up for nighttime feedings. Be competent enough to care for the baby while the mother naps. Want baby time? Be an asset, not an obligation.

Speaker of the TN House Cameron Sexton just removed me and every Democrat — and therefore every Black elected official in the state legislature from any committee we served on. This move strips nearly 2 million Tennesseans from the representation they deserve in TN state leg.
Julia Baker@julia_r_baker

House Speaker Cameron Sexton has removed Democratic Caucus members from standing committees until next session due to "disrupting processes" and "creating disorder" during the special session. pro.stateaffairs.com/tn/politics/ho…

I was a kid in the 90s, and by the time I was 12 I had stayed at my friends houses hundreds of nights for sleepovers. My friends stayed with me hundreds of nights for sleepovers. Video games. Making home movies. Snacks. Bewshittin'. My sons are 8 and 12 and neither of them have ever been to a sleepover. Neither of them have ever tried to get one cooking at my house. And don't get me wrong - I do NOT want other kids at my house. But I wouldn't deny my kids the opportunity to make those memories. Are sleepovers just not a thing anymore? What is going on?

BREAKING: Notice has just been given to Democrats in the Tennessee House that all members of the Democrat Caucus are being removed from all standing committees and subcommittees as a result of their behavior in the statehouse during the redistricting debates last week, which included setting fires inside the Capitol and attacking law enforcement. In the state of Tennessee, political terrorism will not be tolerated. National Republicans take note that this is how you exercise power.

My seemingly healthy, strong father Daniel “Dad Timpf” Timpf died very unexpectedly on the evening of May 7 at just 69 years old.   It does not seem like enough to simply call him my father, because he was so much more than that. He was my rock, my hero and my best friend. He was loyal, funny, kind, selfless, hard-working, and so devoted to his children that it was impossible to be near him and not find yourself inspired. He was a writer, a painter, a sailor, and somehow knowledgeable on every subject from world history to literature to accounting. He was the most dependable person anyone has ever met. I always felt like, as long as I had his phone number, there was not a problem I could not solve. I needed him here with me; I am not okay, and I am far from the only person who feels this.   The birth of my son in February 2025, his first grandchild, was supposed to be a happy new beginning for our family. A family that had been already once devastated by an untimely loss: the loss of my mother Anne Marie to a rare disease in 2014 just a matter of weeks after her diagnosis.   The joy of my son’s birth was, of course, complicated by my also very unexpected breast cancer diagnosis just a matter of hours before going into labor with him. During this time, my dad did what he did best, which was to save the day. As soon as he heard about my diagnosis, he simply got into the car and started driving to New York -- making it through the tunnel just as my  son was born…on the day that happened to be his own birthday, as well.   In the tumultuous time of a simultaneous new cancer diagnosis and new baby, my dad was the sole reason for our stability, rushing in to help care for our son, and returning to do so again for my double mastectomy, reconstructive surgery, and any time that we ever needed him. It was an awful, awful year… but I found so much joy and hope throughout it by watching the beauty of a very special relationship form between my son and my father. This horrible thing that was happening was creating such a very special bond between the two of them -- almost making the terrible thing worth it -- and I was so excited to see how that bond would grow.   The bond was of top priority for my father, who visited from Michigan often. I saw him last on the Monday before he died, and my son was so proud to help his grandfather push his suitcase down to the car as he left. The goodbyes were quick. Why wouldn’t they be? We would all see each other again at the beginning of June, when we would all head to Texas for my shows and to see my grandpa. We wanted to make sure that my son could spend as much time as he could with his great-grandfather. He is, after all, 93.   I was certainly not over the trauma of my cancer or having to amputate the breasts I so badly wanted to feed my son with, but the one thing I could always count on to get me through my worst moments was seeing my son’s and my father’s faces light up when they saw each other, be it during the visits or our routine morning and bedtime FaceTime calls.   That is, at least, until I had to hear over the phone from a doctor I had never met in an emergency room in the same town up north that I’d previously announced to my father that I was pregnant that my dad was dead; I would never see him again, and neither would my son. It would turn out that last year was not the hard one, after all. Rather, it was the one I would now do anything to relive. I would amputate my breasts every year just to be able to speak with him one more time, even for five minutes.   I am currently living an unimaginable horror. For many people, this is a tragic story. For me, it’s my life. I do not know how I will recover from it. I only know that I have to for the sake of what is left of my family.

@4thOfJuly365 6, 7 & 8 were soundly beaten by 1 thru 5 the last time around & nothing makes me think it would be different this time; it takes industry, brains, resources, technology & organization to win a war not just guns & brawn. So 1 thru 5 would beat 6 thru 8 again. And again. And again.

This is outrageous.. Not a single person on my flight is masked up while we’re in the middle of a double pandemic (Covid + Hantavirus). I politely informed the flight attendant that this is a super spreader event. She just shrugged and walked away. I've already filed a formal complaint with the FAA and CDC. This is reckless and cannot stand. Masks save lives, the science is settled on that.
