I'm concerned about this verdict and the overall trend of treating speech platforms as addictive — and therefore dangerous — products. Also, the verdict diminishes the responsibility parents have to raise healthy kids. For example: "Kaley says she began using YouTube at age 6 and Instagram at age 9 and told the jury she was on social media 'all day long' as a child." Where were the parents?

What BS excuse for not taking responsibility for your own kids. What it tells me is that jury was made up of morons. The evidence is cursory at best and the data cherry picked. On top of this..., this isnt addiction, its compulsive behavior. Again, parents need to reign in their kids. Kids did just fine without pagers in the 80s and without phones in the 90s. If they need a phone, give them a straight phone.

This grotesque “art” according to the police is just “criticism of Israel”. Yet it specifically targets individual British Jews like David. There is a direct line between this pernicious “exhibition”/the response to it, and the attack on Jewish-charity ambulances. I don’t mean the perpetrators are associated. I mean this is a society in which the permission structure for antisemitism - the way in which it has moved into and warped public discourse and incites and justifies attacks and violence against Jewish institutions and individuals - is deeply embedded. One of the reasons for this is because those complicit know that British Jews won’t react by rioting in the streets and beheading people. They’re not afraid of the consequences for - what’s the euphemism the authorities there like to use? - “community tensions”. But I think calling it a permission structure also downplays it. It is now a reward structure. It is not just that people don’t suffer consequences for indulging in antisemitism, it is that they are rewarded and therefore incentivised for it. People get notoriety, awards, social currency, career advancement and opportunity, that they would otherwise not get, as transgressive heroes. And therein lies the quandary for Jews. Do we fight back and give these people the notoriety they seek with all the rewards that go with it, or do we ignore it and just let this corrosive cancer run its course, to what end I don’t know.
