Wish for? We already have it, Martin. I wonder if we could get a tour of one of them, Cwrt Malle Dairy in West Wales. 2000+ head is 365 days indoors for life. Maize / Forage / Glyphosate fed. The current @NFUCymru farming strategy is driving us to more of this. #NotMyChoice

The dairyman that represents the most destroyed & intensively dairy farmed area in the UK. River destroying season starts soon with Maize harvesting, Glyphosate, nitrate nodules, slurry & its groundhog day Sam represents Dairymen not constituents! @SeneddClimate @WGClimateChange

A brown trout from a rare outing on Tuesday (same fish in both pics). It is possibly my last trout of the 2024 season and if it turns out that way it's a good un to go out on.

A year ago the @HolkhamEstate with the @N_Rivers_Trust & Charles Rangeley Wilson embarked on a project to reconnect an ancient chalk stream back to the floodplain This is the result, amazing what you can achieve when you work collectively allow nature some space

"Billpayers in England and Wales tricked into ‘stealth bailout’ of water companies." You're about to be had, again and the regulator is facilitating it. Everyone admits it, for 35 years water companies have been provided with all of the funding needed to build a properly function sewage system but they ripped us off, shareholders took the money. Now they're asking us to pay a second time for a service we've already paid for and din't get. theguardian.com/business/2024/…

Week 45 of the Strike Against Sewage Today, we had the absolute privilege of being joined by Baroness @GreenJennyJones from the House of Lords. She is participating in a debate about OFWAT and the Environment Agency, and we’ve provided her with enough evidence to demonstrate how they are failing to hold United Utilities accountable for the damage they are inflicting on Windermere. Maybe it’s time for @Keir_Starmer to join us so we can provide him with that evidence too? savewindermere.com

Apologies if you're just having breakfast. Some stills from yesterday's episode at Southend. 🤮 #FloodTheStreets Sat 26th Oct, Parliament Square. marchforcleanwater.org
Your Southend@YourSouthend

These shocking photos were captured today, revealing what appears to be sewage flowing freely into water off of Southend seafront. The area of darker, brown-coloured water was spotted by a man in a light aircraft who labelled it “disgraceful”. Mark Hutley said: “I’ve never seen anything like it. It could be seen for miles.” It was seen in between Chalkwell beach and Westcliff beach. The apparent sewage spill is close to one of Anglian Water’s ‘storm overflow’ pipes. The overflow pipe named ‘Southend -Western Valley’ discharges into the Thames Estuary. Latest records indicate that it was active today, Sunday 8 September. Anglian Water states on their reporting portal that the storm overflow “is operating within permitted use under a regulatory permit.” Permits are set by the Environment Agency, which specify conditions for controlled sewage and stormwater spills during heavy rainfall and or snow melt, striking a balance between flood prevention and environmental protection. The controlled spills are allowed in order to prevent flooding in homes and businesses. Anglian Water also say: “Substantial environmental investments are being made to minimise the impact of these spills, aligning with regulations to balance flood control and environmental protection.” In a statement, the company said: “In response to the changing expectations of our customers, we are investing more than ever to reduce storm overflow spills, reduce pollutions and restore river health. We recognise customers want us to take swift action to end storm overflow discharges. We intend to meet these expectations and have geared our latest Business Plan to address the highest priority overflows soonest.” Your Southend has approached the Environment Agency and Anglian Water for further comment.

"Water company bosses could face prison time in new Labour crackdown on sewage infested rivers, lakes and seas." That idea is already part of the Companies Act and has been for almost 20 years. Wanna know how many company bosses have ever been prosecuted never mind gone to jail in that time? That'll be none. What a wasted opportunity. news.sky.com/story/water-co…

Stunning capture of a peregrine taking what is known to be a regular prey item. Some of the replies to the original tweet make me despair at people's understanding of nature. In nature you're looking for a meal and trying to avoid being one. That's how it bloody works!

@AlisonStrange5 It is. I put so much time into curlew conservation but never lament the natural death of an individual. I’m concerned about the welfare of the species
