@doggintrump For his birthday, can we stick him in a coliseum with a herd of wild bison? Special guests: the 5 elephants who stomped the hunter. Relatives of ALL the animals the Trump boys have killed.

Democrats closed the Department of Homeland Security for 76 days and achieved nothing. They wanted to defund ICE and border patrol, but their plan backfired. Republicans will now supercharge ICE and border patrol funding without a single Democrat vote.

In Arles in 1888, Van Gogh waited for the full moon to paint an evening landscape, but the mistral (wind) had other plans. With the wind rising and a storm approaching, he painted quickly, capturing the fields, the distant city and that blazing yellow glow in one sweeping effort. So what are we looking at: a setting sun or a rising moon? 🖼️ ‘Summer Evening’, 1888 © Kunst Museum Winterthur

At the end of the day in both 2016 and 2024 - a significant % of voters were just looking for an out to explain why they wouldn’t vote for a woman. Misogyny delivered for Trump twice.
Not a Good Jewish Girl✡️@estherzelda0514

As I listen to Americans explain why they voted for Trump or refused to vote for Harris, it strikes me that they just made things up in their heads that were not true, and the media did nothing to dissuade them. Trump never said anything about the education system other than attacking it. But this voter thinks he did, because the traditional media and social media was myopically concerned with whether Haitians were eating pets, and if Biden was old. There was no discussion of either party's platform, or the candidates' legacies. That was old news, and uninteresting. How can we blame this on the candidates themselves? They don't control the media, and have little if any power to direct it or correct the record once something goes viral. Voters themselves bear some responsibility to verify that their impressions are correct, but they have abdicated all civic responsibility, not that we ever had much to begin with. Truly, however, trying to explain the results of 2016, 2020, or 2024 without giving the media itself the majority of the blame is ridiculous. Trump lost in 2020 because the media never strongly attacked Biden, and Trump's poor handling of the early pandemic was widely reported. Trump won in 2016 and 2024 because the media was relentlessly negative about Clinton and Harris, giving Trump endless amounts of free press without scrutinizing his record or platform.

Voyageurs Wolf Project
Voyageurs Wolf Project@VoyaWolfProject·
Without a doubt, our best trail camera capture yet: the first documented observation of a cougar with kittens in Minnesota in modern history. Turn up the volume to hear all the vocalizations. The footage, which was captured on March 25, shows a cougar with 3 large kittens while they feed on a deer they killed just south of Voyageurs National Park. We captured this surreal footage because we started a study to understand the survival and mortality patterns of deer in our area this winter. As part of that work, we GPS-collared several deer in the area in January.  In late March, we received a mortality signal from a GPS-collared deer and found the carcass buried under a pile of leaves on a hillside—a tell tale sign of feline predation.  We suspected it was likely a bobcat but thought, just possibly, it could be a cougar. So we put up two trail cameras on the cached deer carcass and 4 hours later, two cougar kittens returned to the kill. The entire family showed up that evening and spent hours in front of our cameras. In total, we captured 7.3 hr (435 minutes) of video footage of these animals. We will share more footage soon! Huge thanks to the Minnesota Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund for supporting the Voyageurs Wolf Project and the recent effort to understand deer survival in the area. Their support was critical to this observation—without it, we would never have captured this footage. And huge thanks to the >10,600 donors who have supported our project and enabled us to purchase trail cameras supplies. The cameras (and batteries, SD cards, mounts) we set at this kill were purchased with funds from donations.

The Senate will likely vote to confirm Steve Pearce tomorrow. As BLM director, he will oversee 245 million acres of America’s mountains, canyons, grasslands & rivers. Pearce has spent his career trying to sell off & destroy our public lands. Shameful.

A review by WAPO found that Allen did not fire his gun, despite the DOJ charging him with doing so. That would also mean that the secret service agent who was struck, and is fortunately okay, was hit by friendly fire. I gifted this so you can read it. wapo.st/4tQWvNW

Today's Supreme Court decision reverses hard-won progress under the Voting Rights Act. It means less representation for millions of Black Americans and other voters of color, as lawmakers gain greater ability to manipulate their districts. There will be more extreme partisan gerrymandering, lopsided elections, less accountable government, and policies that hurt rather than help with everyday life. But this is no time to be demoralized, because we know it does not have to be this way. We can mobilize around reform, new laws, and where necessary, constitutional amendments for fairer government. Only then can we feel the benefits of a balanced Court, a truly representative Congress, and an election system free from the distorting power of extreme corporate and partisan manipulation.
