@Slant3D also the costs of raw pellets, especially in bulk (by the gaylord or more) is MUCH more economical than filament

Actually not really true. At the consumer level for sure. But there are actually thousands of material types that are sourceable...by the pallet. Molding had 100 years of supply chain built up. Filament has about 15 years. But luckily speciality materials are so far in the minority of demand that we will be fine.
Ringo@gonecozycrafts

One big difference between 3d printing and injection molding that I haven't really thought of: Material availability. You can just buy filament everywhere. Pellets are harder to get, and the webshops that do sell them doesn't seem to be that much cheaper than filament :O

@HLC_actual feels like this style of gameplay loop has kind of transitioned into the extraction shooter style (at least vs NPC enemies like ARC or helldivers)

Ya know what needs to make a good comeback in gaming? Hoard modes. Like think about it just a lobby full of chads against waves of enemies. Frontier defense on titanfall 2 is top tier still.

Prusa’s problem isn’t (just) the cost. It’s that their software is genuinely abhorrent for anyone who doesn’t have experience with a printer. That’s a (large) part of why their entire market share got eaten. The best part seems to be they can’t recognize it
Corey - Mojee3D@Mojee3d

I have said this before, and I'll say it again. Especially after yet another @BambulabGlobal middle finger to the community. If @Prusa3D could find a way to sell the Core One+ for $899, they'd put other companies out of business.

@cyanidesugar_ im pretty sure they care, im also pretty sure they know they could sell more machines if they could match the pricepoint of china built printers but that would also require building em in a place like china.

Prusa pricing out the market has been their *thing* for a long time. They just don’t care that they’re more expensive, they play into it and make it part of their brand, in fact. So they’ll never put other companies out of business. Unfortunate for a bunch of us.

@geerlingguy @BackwoodsEnginr The primary issue for average consumers is price. $900 flagship 4/5-color Bambu VS $2,000 single color Prusa. Prusa has become complacent in areas that make it hard to scale and manufacture efficiently. They lack a consumer-facing printer.

Bambu Lab 3D printers: never again. They're breaking the open source social contract (for the nth time...), and I'm past hoping they'll amend their ways. youtube.com/watch?v=eb48Md…

I asked ChatGPT to make a thumbnail for the video on Friday, just to see what it would do. It looks like an AI fueled fever dream, haha. Do ai actually use it OR use the one I created in Photoshop? I am leaning one way, but curious what you think.

Pretty sure Slant 3D is the largest fdm print service in the USA. By an order or two of magnitude And the industry is still so small
