@Lzerislive @reptracker In fairness many of those aren’t from Dublin but play for Dublin clubs. Definitely something regional clubs need to look at.

@kgdublin Was there last week and similar. Usually one of my favourites but was quite average. Sides options are quite poor and technical preparation of dishes ordered was below par. Shame for a place I hold in high regard but hadn’t visited in a while.

When are European governments going to stand up and use all levers available to stop this. Israel should be isolated from western governments and treated like apartheid SA. As I child I always believed we wouldn’t let this happen- why aren’t the “good guys” standing up?
Richard Sanders@PulaRJS

- 👏👏👏👏👏👏 @AlexCrawfordSky This is how you report Israeli attempts to demonise the journalists they murder. The contrast with @BBCNews extraordinary. @SkyNews rightly leading with the story.

Is it not news-worthy… That an 18-month-old Palestinian toddler was allegedly held in detention for 10 hours Tortured by Israeli soldiers using burning cigarettes and nails All to force a confession from his father? Look at him Because our press will rather you didn’t.

The victory scenes after the final whistle yesterday. St Mary’s College winning their sixth title. 1961, 66, 69, 94, 02 and now 2026. Cotter, Moloney, Hickey’s and Sexton, the old heroes. Andrew McGauran, Paul Neary, Joe Christle and Co, yesterday was about them👏

I don’t get it. If Hezbollah had flats in this block (unlikely in central Beirut but not impossible) why did the Israelis give everyone inside an hour to get out — including those they wanted to kill? And if there weren’t any Hezbollah people there, why destroy a building with dozens of civilians in it?
The Associated Press@AP

An Israeli airstrike struck an apartment building in central Beirut, on Wednesday. The Israeli army had warned residents to evacuate about an hour before completely flattening it as day broke.

@emmetmalone I guess it’s less rules and more generally given as a “custom and practice” Tbh I agree it shouldn’t be. Too many pen/frees for players “feeling the contact” and going down.

@Caolan1983 Just checked, the rule is “impedes the player with contact”. I don’t think he even slightly impedes Madueke but there you go.

Wow, you’d really think discounting penalty decisions like that was precisely what VAR was intended to do for the game.

@newryhurler1 Maybe… then again barely a weekend goes by without a referee gaming assaulted or “good club men” running into the pitch and assaulting players…. I guess that’s better

Seriously another clown quoting about the GAA....I have never seen any set of GAA fans burn an opposition pitch costing £70k of damage or indeed thrash sections another county's ground ....maybe face into the problems in your own game (of which GAA has many) instead of deflection
IrishTerraceCulture@Irishterrace

They’re really dragging this whole thing out with drogheda fans. Shit happens ,that pitch has been on fire before , it’s a derby so there’s hostility. If you’re appalled then try rugby or gaa. Far worse incidents in the past with a fraction of focus on them. Give over

@OfficialEoin @davebeerflog Yea- having lived in New Zealand it’s similar. Running Tracks, Clubs and sport taken a lot more seriously and facilities provided locally. Look at the medal counts NZ vs Ireland it’s stark. Meanwhile we give €100m a year to Billionaires for their Horse and Dog racing

@davebeerflog Ireland for example, population 5+ million had two 50m Olympic standard swimming pools in the country. In Melbourne in a 10km radius of where I like I’d imagine there’s at least 5.

Israel has no place in world football. Genocide has no place in world football. 20,000 innocent children have been murdered in Gaza & 42,000 kids maimed, with many thousands having lost limbs. a Full boycott of this game is required. #Genocide #Aparthied #EthnicCleansing #COYBIG

Fun Fact: Before playing Ser Duncan the Tall in HBO’s ‘A KNIGHT OF THE SEVEN KINGDOMS,’ Peter Claffey was a Rugby player! 🏉 He featured, and scored, in Ireland’s 2016 Under-20s Six Nations, playing alongside Andrew Porter, James Ryan, Jacob Stockdale and Hugo Keenan.

Seen a bit of Owen Elding for Sligo Rovers. He’s their best young player but a hell of step up to making an impact at Hibs.

@ste_ph_en__ @seidodge Yeah I guess add ons could make a few quid. Sligo were close to relegation with him last year so I guess my point was that without him was it really worth the meagre premium (but like you said- bonuses can make the difference)

@Caolan1983 @seidodge Add ons can bring the deal to 7 figures and theres a sell on clause too. Holding out wouldve been suicide.

Seeing some “Sligo should have got more” but, as ever, it’s the buying clubs that set the market for a player, not the selling club when a) players want to move & b) clubs can’t hang on & lose players for compensation. Prices only rise when multiple clubs are willing to spend
Reptracker | Conor McEvoy@reptracker

Owen Elding is set to leave Sligo Rovers and sign for Hibernian, as first reported by @jessicafarry ☘️ It’s also my understanding that the fee is as low as €400,000 with significant adds on for the reigning League of Ireland Young Player of the Year - a baffling figure, in all honesty, for a player of such quality and potential. Elding will be a huge loss to Sligo Rovers and to the league on the eve of the new League of Ireland campaign, which kicks off next Friday. A deal has now been agreed for the 19-year-old, and it’s looking increasingly likely that he could make his Hibernian debut this Sunday against Rangers.
