i do play fighting games and like
yeah sometimes u don't need to know numbers but other times knowing frame data on your opponents moves strongly informs your defensive options, so while i don't think u need to know it to get started or anything it can be utterly vital...

A lot of people who don't play fighting games think frame data is like "hmmmm I blocked their minus -6 on block move! if i punish with my 5 frame start up jab I can claim victory!!!!" Albert Einstein calculations when in reality it's just "FUUUUUUUUUUUUCK THEY BLOCKED MY DP"

Fighting game players are awful teachers. Discussions about the genre's unapproachability always devolve into moral superiority for one's tolerance for loss. You all get off on how "accountable" you are relative to beginners.

competitive gaming is not dying. it may be declining, idk. but there will likely always be competitive gaming scenes of some kind of another, even if the games change or the events go from sponsored million-dollar events back to community affairs

Been saying it for awhile now but competitive gaming will slowly die out because the average gamer mental. I get in depth with it on stream every now and then but gamers today are not as willing to learn or deal with some friction in these games like they used to.

It seems like it was lost in the news over the weekend even though it was announced on the EVO stage but: EVO Singapore has absorbed the TWT Finals, and they take place in the same weekend/venue. I would guess this is their goal for all the tours eventually.
