Put simply the Pied Piper theory is the idea that a lot of the more insane conspiracy theories are controlled opposition. IE stuff like Reptilians and Flat Earth are being astroturfed because by putting out obviously bonkers conspiracies, it makes the legitimate ones look bad too.

Not individually. I don't care about the railroad spikes or the troughs that drain when you shoot holes in them or my horse's testicles being accurately rendered. But taken together as a whole they show care and attention. The overall effect is powerful.
