@sports8 Leaving the Northeast out of the super league makes no sense. You’re cutting out NYC, Philly, Boston, DC, four of the biggest TV markets in the country. Syracuse, BC, Rutgers, Maryland… somebody has to be there. A national league can’t ignore a quarter of the nation’s eyeballs.

In relation to today’s college football. If football started with a major foundation makeover and school presidents were going to build 4 conferences with 60 teams, some of the P4 schools would get left out, like WSU and OSU There would be mostly holdovers, but also some leftovers

@terryfinisterre @itsbeenawkward The games didn’t attract athletes in their prime despite the huge payday. Remember, not 1 world record has ever been set with athletes past their prime - this was set up to fail

@itsbeenawkward There are billionaires, plural, backing this event and pushing a potential quarter trillion dollar industry. That is a shitload of zeroes! But y'all really bought that "world record" hype for athletes doing season openers after 4 months of training.

@IowaTDKing Rob Sand is running as a moderate, but his public record tells a different story. Past posts praising the Green New Deal, Medicare for All, police reform activism & supporting progressive candidates (E. Warren for President) don’t match the centrist brand he’s selling now.

🚨BREAKING: There is NO water in The Rio Grande?! I’m standing here in New Mexico and the river is completely DRY. Nearby AI data centers are consuming massive amounts of water to keep their systems cool. Meta’s Los Lunas facility alone has reportedly been tied to roughly 75 million gallons of water usage per year connected to Rio Grande resources and it’s only ONE of many projects expanding across the state. People can argue over the exact numbers, but one thing is undeniable… these facilities require enormous amounts of water and there are more data centers across the country being built as we speak. This is starting to look like an environmental disaster in plain sight. We need to put pressure on local representatives and the President to examine this environmental crisis before it’s too late.

@stevemagness My point was only that you comparing athletes past their prime naturally produces slower times even with enhancement. It still comes down to the EG not getting athletes in their prime to compete

How bad were the enhanced games at enhancing? They somehow took near world-class sprinters, doped them, and made them slower... Not just from their PRs, but from last season...and in most cases, slower than a good HS runner... Here's the details:

@stevemagness You said no one claimed these athletes were in their prime, but the EG advertised breaking world records. That only happens with athletes in peak condition. No world record has ever been set by someone past their prime. The games was never capable of delivering what it promised.

No it doesn't say that at all. No one claimed these folks were in their prime. That's why I compared them to their last seasons best...and the vast majority couldn't even touch that. Nor does it mean doping doesn't enhance performance. Of course it does. What it says is that the folks behind the doping/training probably had no idea what they were doing. They overestimated "give drugs and it'll make a huge difference." It seemed like there must be little track specific knowledge here.

Dads... I need your advice. As a young dad myself, I’m genuinely worried about my son growing up addicted to screens, phones, games, etc. It feels like EVERYTHING is designed to grab their attention these days. So I want to ask: - How do you actually manage screen time in your house? - What’s worked for you? - What’s failed? Would appreciate real answers from people who’ve been there 🤝

I must admit, I’ve been quite disappointed to see some prominent track and field accounts covering the Enhanced Games. From a marketing perspective, it’s clear that Fred Kerley claimed he would break the 100m world record simply to attract a larger audience to tune in. Once again, it worked. Anyone who follows the sport appreciates how extraordinary 9.58 seconds is. That’s a time that is likely to remain in the record books for many years to come. While the prize money on offer was undoubtedly something rarely seen in athletics, I have no sympathy for anyone who chose to take part. Those athletes made the decision to associate themselves with the event. Is it really worth sacrificing your entire career and reputation for a single pay cheque? It takes more than drugs to become one of the best. Natural talent, hard work, and dedication are essential to reaching a world-class level in any sport. Overall, the event was a failure. Only one world record was broken throughout the entire evening, which highlighted the exact opposite of what the event intended to achieve. This is the last time I’m talking about this, as it doesn’t deserve any more publicity.

So far my take on the enhanced games... They've taken most of these folks and made them slower than they were in high school... They have Bracy running 10.3 on drugs... another legit sprinter run 10.8... Somehow their training/doping program makes guys and gals super slow...

@stillnothawkize Replay sounds good in theory, but all it really does is increase DQs, and this clip is the perfect example. The coach was wrong, allowing replay reviews turns coaches and fans into instant replay officials on their phones. It would slow meets to a crawl and create more DQ’s

NFHS rules are archaic and silly. For years kids weren’t even allowed to wear watches. It’s far past time to allow video review at SQ/State meets. We have it at our fingertips and simply….wont use it? (Your runner bounced lanes for no reason and should’ve been DQd but that isn’t your point, and I understand that)
Pella Cross Country@PellaDutchXC

First, we thank all officials for what they do and respect all final decisions. Question, if there is going to be an official livestream, should it be reviewable? The ruling was our athlete dropped the baton because he hit his own leg. We disagreed, but video evidence can not be viewed. Perhaps something to be discussed in the future? For now it is what it is, and a part of racing. On to Day 3 👍🏼 @PellaActivities @PHSdutchtrack @iatfcc @IGHSAU @IHSAA

@TrustTrost @Nick_Johnston27 You can’t separate high school soccer from club soccer. The seasons generally run at the same time & players are going to compete in both regardless what the state associations decide. The real safety issue isn’t HS vs. Club, it’s the combined workload. Clubs are the problem

Thanks for the comment Nick. We aren’t talking about club. We are talking about high school. Two totally different topics. Regarding subpar coaches, high school has plenty of subpar coaches. Think about this: In the classroom, you’re supposed to be certified, having student taught prior. Post COVID, that has eased in spots. In many cases in high school at the lower levels of sports, we have first-year coaches that have had no training as a coach at all. Doesn’t mean they’re going to be bad, but there are many just going through the motions and filling a spot.

Look around the U.S. at how high school soccer is structured in states to help and protect kids. In Florida, high school games are only played during the week so student athletes can still compete in exposure club tournaments on the weekend if they choose to. In Texas, schools are limited to 2 games per week: One game Monday-Thursday and one Friday or Saturday. No back-to-backs are allowed. In Nebraska, the final week of the postseason schedule is: Monday → Friday → Monday. That’s what prioritizing student athlete health and safety actually looks like. Then there’s Illinois and the Illinois High School Association (IHSA). Until it was forced by a student athlete-led Illinois House Bill in spring of 2025, the IHSA owned and blocked student athletes from any outside event during the season. The IHSA has no health and safety limitation on the number of games that may be played in a week. The IHSA had schools playing FOUR of its final tournament games in FIVE days — including the possibility of 3 final games in 24 hours. Don’t believe me: Tuesday → Friday → Saturday (two). Now, it’s only one game on Saturday: Tuesday → Friday → Saturday…a mere 3 games in 120 hours. So let’s recap: Florida protects weekends to help kids have options. Texas limits games and bans back-to-backs to protect vs overscheduling. Nebraska spaces out same-site postseason matches over 8 days at the end of the season. As I pointed out on Cubs Opening Day on FOX in March 2025, when it comes to helping high school soccer players and “health and safety” with the IHSA…don’t let the truth get in the way of the facts. #MoreThanJUSTGames #IHSA
Hurrdat Sports@HurrdatSports

The boys session at Nebraska boys state soccer hit 7,529 (Gretna vs Lexington, Lincoln Southwest vs Omaha South). The girls brought in 4,599 (Lincoln Pius X vs Blair, Omaha Marian vs Elkhorn South). #nebpreps
