Here's my video below covering the Jeff Ruby Steaks at Turfway Park. I make the case for Chaos Agent, but Stark Contrast, Fulleffort and Black Hornet are all capable as well. youtube.com/watch?v=wB-H4G…
@sigimendoza I don't think the thumbnail makes a strong difference for me. They see the PPs up front and that's enough to give the viewer an idea of what's coming.
And besides that, it's more effort to make a thumbnail and I'm not getting paid to do this so, meh who needs them?
I didn't have time to record the next video yet. Why Chaos Agent? Just from a visual standpoint, he looks like a serious runner.
The runner-up in his GP maiden win, Scope, is pretty good for a maiden. He was 4th in the Pilgrim Stakes last year, so there was substance to him.
YouTube views are better on this Derby Trail compared to last year. The latest video will break 200 by the end of the day, which is on the high side for me.
Last Derby Trail, I struggled to break 100 on a weekly basis.
@ShaneTribble I love seeing horses who descend from Better Than Honour, and Blacksmith is another one from that line who acts like he wants to go long. We'll see.
Initially I thought Emerging Market would be favored in the Louisiana Derby. But I don't know anymore.
Chip Honcho and Golden Tempo both have a lot of support from handicappers.
I still don't think Emerging Market will be 6-1 though. He'll be in the mix of 1st or 2nd choice.
@Capper_RMac If Derby fans played Colonial last Saturday they saw Prat have 5 wins so that might sway bettors, but w/ the recent success by CH & GT they should get a lot of play. Baffert always gets attention & Brad Cox has 2 entries. It should be somewhat spread out & a solid betting race.
Here's my video covering the Louisiana Derby at Fair Grounds. Although Emerging Market lacks experience, he brings talent and a distance pedigree.
Blacksmith and Easterly show stamina families too. All their chances hinge on Chip Honcho being pressured - youtube.com/watch?v=vj03gU…
I tried to find recent examples of horses who won the Louisiana Derby off only one start. The closest I could come up with is Kingsbarns, who had 2 starts prior to taking the race gate to wire.
Also, I had Kingsbarns at 9/2, so that was a good day for me.
@BillyHoSports I don't know if I feel too good about Golden Tempo. Sierra Leone won the Risen Star, and Golden Tempo could only get within 6 lengths of Paladin.
Maybe the blinkers help and he could possibly sit a little closer. For this race, I see him underneath at best.
@Capper_RMac This is the Sierra Leone close from Golden Tempo to win this race. I'm not holding the Powershift thing against Emerging Market, but he's going from a mile 70 to 9.5 furlongs. In his 2nd start.
I don't see Chip Honcho getting loose in the Louisiana Derby. At least, I think he'd have to work for it.
Pavlovian and Blacksmith both showed good speed in their most recent starts and can make Chip Honcho sweat it out early on.
@Capper_RMac Blacksmith can win this race! He has a lot of foundantion, his pedigree is made for distances! The long strech can be tricky for the riders
I'll go with the likely favorite in the Louisiana Derby - Emerging Market.
Even though I just wrote I don't like taking the hype horse with no experience, I can't avoid him. He looks too good visually. He has the big number on BRIS. Lots of route names in his pedigree.
