Will we see another celebration like this at the Preakness Stakes this weekend? 👀

I don't understand the picks for Great White in the Preakness Stakes. Even if I could believe he doesn't want to be a pacesetter, it's hard to forgive that severe of a fade in the Blue Grass. He lost by 22 lengths. Even if I subtract Further Ado, he was still 11 back of Ottinho.

Made Ocelli an Uma. Went all in on the hopes he wins the Preakness in the design. He'll need a new raceware design if he loses, but that's okay because he deserves it. #WhyNotOcelli #umamusume

I hope Incredibolt and Ocelli run 1-2 in the Preakness so we can stop with the move the triple crown around conversation.

This is the powerful 2YO half-brother to Ocelli, who was 3rd in the KY Derby and is entered in the Preakness.

@atTheTrack7 Small farms can't compete. Therefore many potential stallions never get the chance and many mares don't get bred because they aren't good enough for the best stallions and there aren't enough of the others. The foal crop needs to get bigger

The issue of the Preakness and the Triple Crown is a microcosm of an issue that has been ongoing in racing for a long time. Horses don’t run anymore. I remember in 2006 when Barbaro was coming into the Derby off a five week “layoff” it was one of the most talked about topics going into the Derby. Now, if a horse went in off three weeks, people would ask “is that enough time?” Derby horses averaged 9 starts going into the Derby 20 years ago, that average is now 5. Horses run their final Breeders Cup prep in August. In New York, there isn’t enough support for a Whitney-Woodward-Jockey Club Gold Cup schedule anymore. In the 1980’s they ran those races and the Marlboro Cup in a 10 week period. If we continue to adjust schedules to accommodate horses running less and less, horses will continue to run less and less. Make the gap between Triple Crown races four weeks and in a few years people will want it to be six weeks. Stop racing to breed. Breed to race.

I am old enough to remember when Journalism ran in all three legs of the Triple Crown and ran well in all three. And then came back the following month to win the Haskell. And then came back to run at 4. The good old days!

@SotoSocial @Zipseatthetrack You realize White Abarrio is a multi-time G1 winner right? Losing to him doesn’t prove Journalism is washed up. Also by that logic Sovereignty was bad too and he did skip.

@Zipseatthetrack Then got trounced by 8F by horses that were once equals. Maybe the path for journalism wasn’t the right one. Maybe it was ego and bad decisions for that horse.

@reredevaux Some people complain that this is just a business decision, but I would always rather see a horse that could have run be pulled for whatever reason then see a horse breakdown.

@1989prknsstks @abracing0 Have you tried "America's Day at the Races"? It's livestreamed from NewYork Racing Association's Youtube channel. Shows alot of races, though I guess you don't really get to chose which ones you want to watch.

@abracing0 I just wish American racing live viewing is more accessible because I was really struggling to watch KY Derby live before getting saved by racing tv livestreaming it for YouTube. Really hope they'd do the same for Preakness or even Belmont if possible

I’m not sure if others sense the same thing, but I feel really positive about the number of new fans coming into racing across the world right now Viewership records for both the Kentucky Derby and Oaks, 300,000+ live concurrent viewers for the Tenno Sho on the JRA YouTube channel yesterday, the number of people watching from Umamusume I can only see this trend going up and it’s really exciting to observe As always, to any new fans - if you have any questions or queries, don’t hesitate to send me a message or leave a comment!

Working on an article/video this week diving into some wild Derby stats… Golden Tempo’s 95 Beyer (I believe) is the LOWEST ever recorded for a Kentucky Derby winner. Even crazier: he lost last out to the horse who finished DEAD LAST in the Derby. Not taking anything away from Golden Tempo—but something didn’t add up. No way this entire field was THAT slow.

Here is a sequence of images from @_RYUSEI_0531 bowing to the @ChurchillDowns Crowd. It was funny the TV Crew was yelling at him to hurry up and bring the horse back, not knowing the traditional respect the Japanese jockeys show the crowd and fans. We still have much to learn. We need to do a better job of presenting the horses to the fans. #テーオーエルビス
