This is objectively political persecution. Chud is being forced to endure standards that NO ONE ELSE has to. This man is a turning point for the nation. Do you accept two tiered justice? Or not? Watching the Warhammer40k drama unfold the last couple of days here on X, and Reddit has been quite interesting. For some reason, the usual suspects and the pronoun warriors are saying that there are no good guys in Warhammer because the Imperium is a "fascistic theocracy" that treats the Xenos as something to be completely wiped out. Here is the reality. If the Imerpium were a "western style liberal democracy" humanity would be extinct. The forces of Chaos, the Tyranids, Orks, necrons etc would rip humanity to shreds, mired in the slowness of democracy, religious freedoms, and cultural tolerances. Tyranids can't be reasoned with, Chaos are literal hell demons, Orks exist just to fight, Necrons want to sterilize all life etc. The galaxy is a massively grimdark hell universe where humanity has endured over 10 thousand years of constant war. The brutality of the Imperium is the minimum viable survival strat in this insane universe. Sterilizing a planet, virus bombing, etc., sounds insane until you remember in the lore that hesitation or delay has cost them the entire imperium's worlds, sectors etc. The "muh fascism" naiive sheltered 1st world ignorant weirdos think that just because humanity has become so unforgiving means it's not worth saving. These are the same kind of people who advocate for unlimited migrants to invade the 1st world, leading to societal collapse, and in WH40k, they think the xenos are just some misunderstood minorities. When the world eventually falls into a state of war and chaos, the first thing to go is all the niceties of the rules of the liberal democratic order. It happened during WW1, WW2, and it will happen again. Because the alternative is the end of your own culture, society, and nation. Yes, the imperium lobotomizes criminals, burns entire planets just to be safe, with institutionalized racism, and fanaticism on a galactic scale. But like I said... ...the alternative is extinction. That's why the Imperium, the human faction, is the good guys.

Retreat can be good but only if there is an order and support for it. Just abandoning your post means not just you but everyone in your unit are dead

Even when the odds are against them a retreat saves lives such as the walls outside the imperial palace in the Siege of Terra, and even later in the campaign too

Seems like this "Imperium is the good guys" comes from not knowing the difference between "protagonist" and "hero"/"good guy"
