I can see many Americans expressing their anger at my tweet but let’s put aside all that steam for a minute and answer these questions objectively:
How do you think the world feels about the U.S. unprovoked invasion of and regime change in countries that have never and will never attack the United States?
Do you think the over 70 countries in the world whom the U.S. has attacked in some form look favorably upon American soldiers, regardless of their skin colour and race?
And when these soldiers, many of whom have killed, maimed, and displaced families in the countries they’ve invaded, are returned home in body bags, what do you think their victims do? Do they feel sorry for these soldiers or are they happy that their oppressors are finally gone?
To you, these soldiers may be heroes, but to billions of people on the other side of the barrels of your guns, these soldiers are murderers. Do you honestly expect people to praise those who have murdered their kin when they face the same bitter fate?
