@Janine89263189 @Hon_PeterDutton What life have you ever had that was worth living, Janine? A screeching, rat-faced, mouldy old dishwater peroxide scrag with a peanut brain full of boomer memes and nothing else. Who’d want that life? You’re the envy of no one, just a pitiful old broken down mangy dog.

Given it’s been established Annastacia Palaszczuk has nothing to do with the serious allegations now before the court, it is entirely reasonable to ask that media reporting of the matter exclude her name.

@taipan168 @MarkoMatvikov @RizviAbul Why not call out the inaccuracies and counter his claims with your own data? Immigration can help or completely break our country. We must get it right. We need more healthy discussions on the topic and less barking at each other while staying firmly stuck in one camp.

Here’s a summary of key metrics after 30 years of rapid population growth. Now tell me how our immigration system is delivering positive outcomes. At best, it’s mitigating against even worse outcomes. At worst, it’s exacerbating underlying problems - and hiding the need to solve them. The can kicking must stop.

@MarkoMatvikov @RizviAbul It must really hurt the high migration cheerleaders to see Marko and friends scoring points every day on here.

@RizviAbul Your whole schtick is to rebut valid criticism of our immigration settings with arbitrary tangents – and when you can’t even come up with them, you default to ad hominem attacks. If this is your idea of sophisticated analysis, I’m happy to be considered a troglodyte.

@LezBeFranc @anthc @AvidCommentator Canada cut immigration and their average rent went down for 17 consecutive months. I'm an immigrant and I don't see how it's bigoted in any way to question the high immigration numbers in our country. It's clear that excessive migration has driven up housing costs for decades.

If negative gearing the capital gains tax discount do have their final curtain call, there will be no hiding from the fact that the housing deficit is driven overwhelmingly by high migration. Excuses about property investors will begin to swiftly ring hollow.

@taipan168 @k0ogs I think you massively underestimate the impact of migration. It highly amplifies the supply shortage and every move from the RBA or govt. Over 30% of our population was born overseas. They buy homes and invest in property. Then have kids who do the same. realestate.com.au/insights/one-i…

@CaptainMeow123 @k0ogs Thanks for acknowledging that there are many other factors other than migration that drive house prices. 👍

@ankitsethi07 @AvidCommentator We shouldn't overlook how much of that 1.2mil housing target is because of ridiculously high immigration. We also shouldn't overlook how unrealistic that target was from the start because the supply curves for labour and building materials have an exponential shape.

@AvidCommentator While I don't disagree with you that it gives one less reason for property investors but we shouldn't overlook how significantly short is the government of their 1.2mil housing target.

@taipan168 @k0ogs 2 identical houses, 2 buyers. Everyone can borrow $1m. How much do you think the buyers pay if a similar house sold for $800k recently. 2 identical houses, 3 buyers. Everyone can borrow $1m. How much do you think the buyers pay if a similar house sold for $800k recently?

@k0ogs @CaptainMeow123 As I have said elsewhere, migration is only a small factor in high housing prices. Look at the COVID period. Net overseas migration was negative yet prices still skyrocketed.

@taipan168 @k0ogs The shortage will push wages up further and attract workers from other industries and young apprentices out of high school. The government must also repair the massive damage done to TAFE by the Abbott funding cuts.

@CaptainMeow123 @k0ogs Wrong, because we’ll have even worse skill shortages in the construction sector than we already do.

@taipan168 @k0ogs Yes rents and property prices go down. Projects become less viable, construction slows/stops until labour and materials become cheap enough to make the projects viable again. World keeps spinning and housing becoming cheaper means more money gets to flow elsewhere in the economy.

@taipan168 @k0ogs We have a housing shortage. The demand is already there. Migration is just piling on more demand on top of this. Stopping/slowing migration means rents go down and people have more money to spend on everything else. Kids can move out of the family home sooner like they used to.

@taipan168 @k0ogs Supply growth will never outpace the demand growth unless we kill immigration. If by some miracle we make 10% more houses appear out of thin air, guess what the government is gonna do? Turbo migration and pass laws to fill up the capacity ASAP. It is not a supply problem.

@taipan168 @k0ogs Remove the NIMBYs and councils and you're still heavily limited by infrastructure, labour costs and material costs. Margins are super thin. A surge in building projects would quickly make the inputs too expensive and suddenly the projects are no longer viable.

@craigkellyAFEE @nascentjude It is our civic duty to deface these foreign language electoral signs. Ideally with a flame thrower but spray paint or excrement will do.

Craig Kelly:🇦🇺Foundation for Economic Education
The AEC spent over $500,000 trying to sue me in the Federal Court. Their allegation? That the authorisation statement at the bottom of my election signs — “Authorised by Craig Kelly” with my office address — was ILLEGIBLE. They seriously argued the font was too small, even though any voter could walk right up and read it clearly from two metres away. Yet the same AEC happily allows entire election signs to be written in foreign languages that are completely illegible to the vast majority of Australian voters. And if people can’t read English, should they even be on the electoral roll and voting? How the hell can someone make an informed decision on who to vote for if they can’t read English?
