I’ve reached the stage where I have to consult urban dictionary to be able to have a conversation with my 12 year old. Today I have learned about ‘shipping’: “The act of one wanting/supporting two individuals involved in a romantic relationship.”

Recovering from Anxiety - A Thread of Hope This time last year, my daughter - then aged 11 - had begun to suffer from anxiety. She masked at first, but she was struggling. As time passed, the worries became more dominant and we began to see her physical health deteriorate. 1/

@HelenATSLT That's a bit disheartening isn't it? I hope you can make the professionals listen. My son has all the signs and I often think of getting him assessed (he has dyslexia too), now I'm not so sure 😕

I have failed (so far) to make professionals understand the importance of differentiating between DLD and other labels. There will be many families like us, in limbo. Knowing something but not everything. Education is key.

It’s #DLDAwarenesDay After years of assessments, we have a diagnosis of ‘language disorder’ for my son, but he has been denied further assessment to determine whether we can use the label of DLD or if his difficulties are linked to another label. 🧵
