I can't find it now but there was an excellent mini vakama with mixel joints modelled perfectly

@jdrider02 @PipesIsCool Rihio actually realized the unsustainability of keeping up with 7 colors for each new release, so thr number was cut to 5, then 4 colors which shook up with every new wave Losing red and yellow sucked like losing brown and purple in G1, but we got more sets faster because of it

i'm ngl Bionicle is one of those childhood series that I wish would get revived but the moment it does I'd end up criticizing a lot of small things about it because i'm a realist adult instead of a naive child with joy and whimsy Bionicle G1 just did come out at the right time

@PipesIsCool @jdrider02 The rihio sets and model kits in this thread are the closest thing I've come to a new constraction line, even being a kind of mix of bionicle and technic, but it was an experiment from lepin they didn't market and production ceased in 2024 with the release of animacha series 2 😷

@Carpenter_Smut @jdrider02 I agree. The armor system was flawed and much too simple. Imo there exists a perfect medium between the 2. The ccbs skeletal system and joints were superior, however the bionicle/technic armor and weapons were way more detailed and interesting. G2 had begun to bring some back

@PipesIsCool @jdrider02 Bionicle G1 definitely had misfire pieces that could only be used one way, but great systems need vague chunks like bohrok body halves to be interpreted in unique ways, and variation in torso/limb types from the inika to the hordika, or rahkshi legs to the baggier vahki style

@PipesIsCool @jdrider02 As someone who's been studying outside building systems for a few years I can confidently say the flaw of CCBS was that it was too clean, straightforward to the point where if you owned one you mostly owned them all It's why their combiners were largely unsatisfying

@jdrider02 It is simply baffling to me that they left out subdetails like mask names and powers as well as rahkshi, bohrok, or any sort of truly alien and compelling enemy designs ..spiders and skeletons, way to kill any intrigue and make them as samey as any other fantasy franchise
