The side missions are a gang hideout robbery and finding some cars. Rdr2 had a whole bank robbery locked to ultimate and no one complained about it.

Yea because in those games you didn’t have stores locked behind those ultimate editions the content of the game was still available and only a few cosmetics and outfits were included in those editions, with GTA 6 you have entire Mod Shops and side missions that won’t be accessible if you don’t pre-order the Ultimate edition

@JPlayzCasual @_Tom_Henderson_ Rdr2 also had an ultimate edition with bonus content, nearly every AAA game has a deluxe edition with bonus content and nobody complained until gta 6 did it. The ultimate bonuses are gonna be a drop of water in the ocean that is standard gta 6’s content.

@ZeroScript_ You will be able to customize your characters and vehicles in the game, the stuff locked behind the ultimate edition is just bonus customizations on top of all the ones that will already be in the game.

GTA6 is NOT $80!!! The Standard Edition locks hair salons, tattoo shops, and story missions behind a velvet rope. If you want the actual, complete game, you’re paying $100 for the Ultimate Edition! Rockstar didn't beat the rumor, they repackaged it.

Rockstar would have made their money back at $60 USD. Online is not even bundled. Online will make billions in a few years from microtransactions. If you are justifying rockstar raising the base price of a single player game that comes with no disc, you’re part of the problem.

I think people defending Rockstar for their shitty practices just because they're excited for GTA 6 is really dumb. I'm very excited to play the game, and I think it will ultimately be great, but the pricing for GTA 6 is ridiculously setting a standard for the industry 1/2.

The point is the way they are making sure you are reminded that you didn't spend 20$ extra, on already a premium price of 80 for the Standard

clothing, horse, and some extra content that doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things is fine because that stuff for the most part is just thrown into your character inventory or granted to you at some point in the story. i’m talking about the fact that numerous locations you just cannot access in the game because i didn’t pay money. i can look at the door, i can see the shop NPC, i just cannot walk in because i bought the base edition of the game. if they did the exact same thing they did with RDR2 i wouldn’t have any issues, but parts of the open world are completely blocked off to people who don’t care to spend the extra $20

@jaredjbrock @_LarZen_ @pcgamer They are following a precedent not setting it. The $80 version is less than 1% “inferior”. You’re enjoyment of the game is not gonna be significantly impacted by missing out on 5 cosmetics shops out of the dozens that will be in the game.

It’s about the precedent that’s set. If you don’t think every other studio and executive isn’t watching how GTA6 performs, you’re out of your mind to be frank. Beyond just player expectation and hype, this game is a big deal. And if Rockstar can prove to executives that people are willing to pay an extra $20 to access content they are arbitrarily locking off that’s already in the game files, then it justifies to executives that there’s potential for them to do the same going forward. I don’t care how good a studio is or how high quality I know their product to be, I’m also against this blatant egregious monetization. They are charging players effectively $100, as $80 is simply an inferior version of the game. If players show they are willing to accept an astronomical price tag just due to IP legacy, we’ll prepare for everything to even further be unaffordable. GTA will make their money back if they charged $70 for the game. Hell, if it was just $70 and the $100 just had some pre-order cosmetic items even that would be fine, but it’s the fact of locking content already in the game behind an additional set of money. For example, Skyword Sword HD on the Nintendo Switch was $60 for a remaster of a decade old Wii game. Okay, fine, whatever, but then Nintendo had the gall to lock a feature that is hard-coded into the game, fast travel, behind a $20 or so Amiibo purchase that is required to use anytime you want to fast travel. That’s sickening, and it’s functionally the same thing. Blocking content to players unless they decide to cough up a few more dollars on their already expensive game.

@LittleBigSpikey Its 2 side missions and 5 shops when there will be many more in the base game. I wouldn’t call it incomplete just cause it only has 99.9% of the content when that extra 0.1% has no significant impact on the gameplay experience.

I'm okay with Rockstar charging $80 for GTA 6. If CoD and 2K can sell the same game every year for $70, the biggest and most anticipated game of all time can justify charging $80. What I'm NOT okay with is them selling a "physical edition" without a disc and locking elements of the GTA experience behind an Ultimate Edition paywall. This is very much a $100 digital-only game, Take-Two are using GTA's popularity and huge development costs to normalize selling the full experience at this price, making the $80 standard edition seem incomplete.
