But let’s actually talk about the convenience store noodle system in Thailand vs Japan. Please no fighting. In Thailand, if you want instant noodles, you pick one out, then go to the noodle station and pour hot water, and then pay. After that, you either sit down and eat or leave with your food. Why is it convenient? In Thailand, the prep happens while you’re waiting anyway, so you’re overlapping tasks. But in Japan, everything is sequential, so total time can be longer for the individual customer, even if the system itself is more controlled? Thailand: pick > prepare > queue > pay > eat Japan: pick > queue > pay > prepare > wait > eat Both societies already operate on high interpersonal trust, so I’m confused why Japanese consumers follow corporate rules that don’t make sense? 7-11 rules don’t count as “culture or tradition” so that reasoning can’t be used lol You also can’t blame foreigners, this system has been in place in Thailand for years, and Thailand is also a tourist hub yet everything works fine and saves consumers 1-3 minutes in waiting time per meal.

Proud with @UNSWRNA to have been involved & making the mRNA-LNP for Rosie. There are nuances here that the thread below misses but nevertheless, the intersection of RNA technology, genomic & AI poses an opportunity to change the way do medicine and make access more equitable 1/8

The reality of living in 3rd world shitholes: I've been a digital nomad for over 10 years. 60+ countries, every continent. The foreigner tax is real, and there's no way around it. The person in the quoted post complained they can't get a fixed price for anything. Everyone paying the same is a Western concept. In Thailand, I remember the price for street food was 30 baht (~$1). The sign said 30 baht, the people in front of my paid 30 baht. My price was 80 baht. Pointing to the sign above her with a single number (30 baht) doesn't help: you're a dirty foreigner and they'll charge you whatever they want. One of the questions I asked expats all over the world: do they always try to rip you off? Not a single expat said No. It doesn't matter if you've lived there for 20 years, married local, and speak the language. You're still a foreigner to be stolen from. Some countries learned if you treat foreigners well, it brings more foreigners (with their money). Thailand is the best example of this: far fewer scams than 15 years ago. But, still more than you might think. That reminds me of a fun story: the Lucky Buddha. Walking along in Bangkok, we're approached by a local. He speaks excellent English (warning sign for a scam), and says the national museum is closed today (it's not), so why not go see the Lucky Buddha? The local hails a tuk-tuk for you who will take you there for basically free. The Lucky Buddha is nothing more than a Buddhist temple, but there's a well-dressed man inside who strikes up a conversation. He's a jewel buyer for Tiffany / Cartier or whatever, and this is his last day in town to buy jewels at discount and don't you want to come see? We had long realized it was a scam so this is where we bailed out. We get back to the states, and my female talks to a friend who ALSO met a jewel buyer. "Yeah, I bought some jade and sapphires and they still haven't arrived..." Every ethnicity has a slur for foreigner. Gringo (yes this is a slur), gaijin (japan), farang (Thailand), thai balot (Vietnam), guiri (Spain), etc. Every taxi driver everywhere is lowlife scum who wants you dead. Literally the only places you can safely enter a taxi are in Dubai or Singapore. I've been scammed or held hostage by taxi drivers in a dozen+ countries. They'll drive you to a remote place and threaten to leave you there unless you pay them. Use the rideshare apps and/or do deals with your host to get around. My female and I will walk miles in the hot/cold with our backpacks if there's no Uber or equivalent. The taxi drivers we pass look pissed we don't want their help, but they'll scam us literally every single time. No thanks. The rules for locals and the rules for you are different. Dubai is quite open about this. In a court of law: Emirati > people with money > everyone else. I was in Hong Kong at a McDonald's standing in line (I didn't like the food in HK). A little Chinese mainlander grandma elbowed me in the ribs and started yelling at me. The HK McDonald's employee looked exasperated, but had me wait while he served her and others first. I broke some rule, I don't know what. Don't bother trying to look poor or fit in, you won't. A gypsie can spot a US person a mile away (it's the tennis shoes) and moves to pickpocket them. They'll pick you out by the hairstyle or even mannerisms. Just keep your guard up. When you're in public in these shitholes, you're a target. Some ethnicities only exist to lie, cheat, and steal. That's a horrible statement to write, but I assure you it's true. I don't need to tell you which ones. You'll figure it out. You'll be followed home by strange men. I remember in Venice an Eastern Euro followed us back to our Airbnb. It was obvious he was following us: 11pm, we were in a dead end alley with nothing around for several blocks. He was waiting for us to drop our guard. He pretended to be lost and turned around. This has happened many times, in many countries. They'll also hang around so see if you lock the doors when you leave. I could go on, but I won't. If the rest of the world hates me as a foreigner, why go there? Because the world is beautiful and has many wonderful people. I'm a target of racism every day. So what? You are too, probably. Suck it up and go live.

AI agents are quietly reshaping crypto UX on @Base. • @HeyElsaAI: Natural language crypto agent backed by @M31Capital & @cbventures. Finds yield, executes swaps, analyzes portfolios, and routes micropayments via x402 and OpenClaw. • @clawdbotatg: Wallet native AI agent trained by @austingriffith. Ships onchain apps (commit reveal games, meme contests, token incinerators) and coordinates multi agent deployments via Nerve Cord. This is what happens when agents move from interfaces to operators.

based. and FWIW, gainzy doesn't get enough credit for these unc wisdom takes where he dumps a much-needed bucket of cold water on whatever bullshit is going on at the moment like, obvious caveats - AI is an amazing, powerful, transformative tool that aside - there's a tidal wave of midcurve tech-adjacent/curious dudes that just discovered openclaw (or agentic anything) in the past week absolutely creaming themselves over this stuff using burner accounts (or better yet, a burner machine *and* burner accounts) is probably not practiced by 90%+ of folks who dive into this stuff secondly: if you need to "reverse prompt" AI to figure out what to solve, ie: you don't have any acute pain points that stand out, or can't just read articles/lists to get some thought-starters, you're trying to solve for stuff that doesn't exist. or generally could more narrowly be solved in claude's web interface/etc
gainzy@gainzy222

open claw is basically a bunch of coding illiterate people installing AI and giving it access to their personal email, telegram, discord, WhatsApp compromising their op sec for the illusion of a personal assistant that enriches them and getting hacked

if you’re coinbase, the thesis is simple. make base the home for ai agents, and make x402 the goto payment protocol how? by going all in on bankr. fully integrate it, fully equip it, make it central to the developer platform

In the early 14th century, in rural northern France A group of 30 Frenchmen walked up to an English held castle and shouted to see if the people inside wanted to come out and fight The Lord of the castle sent out 30 men as well They squared up. Somebody threw a signal. The fight began. 60 men in full armor beating the crap out of each other with pikes, axes, swords and hammers. They took a break and everyone had some wine. Two Frenchmen dead. After the next round, which continued a good while, eight English lay dead including the leader. The rest of the knights are taken hostage and held for ransom. To a man, every single one of the combatants are grievously wounded. Some would die later and some would carry their wounds for life. For centuries, this battle was marked with a simple Stone. It was an oddity in military history because it was a battle literally fought for no reason at all. Other than boredom. In 1811, the site was marked with a large monument.
