government-owned grocery stores? seriously? this is the same socialist fantasy that turned venezuela’s shelves empty, created bread lines in the soviet union, and made every single state-run store in history a corrupt, inefficient disaster. nyc is already bleeding residents and businesses because of sky-high taxes, crime, migrant hotels, and insane progressive policies. instead of fixing the root causes, cutting taxes, reducing regulations, backing the police, you want to open five taxpayer-funded grocery stores that will lose money, have shortages, terrible selection, long lines, and become another bloated bureaucracy. people aren’t struggling to afford groceries because there aren’t enough government stores. they’re struggling because your policies made everything more expensive and drove productive people and companies out of the city. red states with lower taxes and less interference don’t need “city-owned” groceries because the free market actually works there. this isn’t a solution. it’s a campaign stunt that will waste millions of taxpayer dollars while making the affordability crisis worse. your “promises kept” flex is disgusting.
