Big data was a bubble, but at least we have all seen one example of a big company that could benefit from it at scale: Target. We all remember a story where big data analytics allowed Target to tell a father that his daughter was pregnant before she knew it. Three years into the LLM bubble, do we have any story?

The EFF provided additional clarification on why they left X but are remaining on places like Facebook and TikTok. If I'm being completely honest, I still don't understand their reasoning. They wrote that they're staying on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok because "people there deserve access to information too" ... so ... are they implying people on X do not deserve access to this information? I don't understand. I'm not trying to be antagonistic or sarcastic either, I wholeheartedly do not understand what they're saying. Does anyone understand?

@burkov @GaryMarcus In my opinion, the worst choice Moltbook made was setting a fixed rate limit of 30 minutes per post instead of a progressive limit

As I build my own 2nd brain 🧠 on Obsidian using @karpathy ‘s wiki idea, it suddenly dawned on me - one day when we r gone, our kids could inherit an interactive map to your mind, passion, obsessions, work, fascinations… It’s kind of beautiful way to think abt your 2nd 🧠.

@IAPonomarenko We in Europe need to break free from this bully and the morons that voted for him. If that means no NATO then so be it. US has abandoned support for Ukraine and has weakened our security by supporting Russia. A bold step forward to go it alone is needed

@Dispropoganda Bro Nato showed their true colours with Iran. That could of been their opportunity to prove what Trump said about them not having their back to be false or heavily exaggerated but instead they proved the orange man right, agree with the war or not. He was vindicated there

🦔A researcher invented a fake eye condition called bixonimania, uploaded two obviously fraudulent papers about it to an academic server, and watched major AI systems present it as real medicine within weeks. The fake papers thanked Starfleet Academy, cited funding from the Professor Sideshow Bob Foundation and the University of Fellowship of the Ring, and stated mid-paper that the entire thing was made up. Google's Gemini told users it was caused by blue light. Perplexity cited its prevalence at one in 90,000 people. ChatGPT advised users whether their symptoms matched. The fake research was then cited in a peer-reviewed journal that only retracted it after Nature contacted the publisher. My Take The researcher made the papers as obviously fake as possible on purpose. The AI systems didn't catch it. Neither did the human researchers who cited it in real journals, which means people are feeding AI-generated references into their work without reading what they're actually citing. I've covered the FDA using AI for drug review, the NYC hospital CEO ready to replace radiologists, and ChatGPT Health launching this year. All of that is happening in the same environment where a condition funded by a Simpsons character and endorsed by the crew of the Enterprise was being presented as emerging medical consensus. The people making these deployment decisions seem to believe the pipeline from research to AI to patient is more supervised than it actually is. This experiment suggests it isn't supervised much at all. Hedgie🤗 nature.com/articles/d4158…

@cosmosarcive That’s called perspective. Why doesn’t the curvature formula, math? I can see the buildings 25 miles away across the lake. The formula says it should be below the curve by hundreds of feet. I can see it. Your Math doesn’t math. Why? It’s flat

Neil deGrasse Tyson explains a simple way to test whether the Earth is flat or curved. If several people stand at different heights in a tall building and watch the sunset, the people higher up will see the Sun for longer. On a flat Earth, everyone would see the sunset disappear at the same time. But because the Earth is curved, the horizon changes depending on your height — which is why the person on the roof sees the Sun last.
