I am vacationing in the Caribbean coast of Mexico and I realized that there’s no shortage of feedstock for SAF (Sargassum Aviation Fuel)

Kryvyi Rih. An ordinary city district, surrounded by residential buildings, nothing but civilian infrastructure. On April 4, a Russian ballistic missile struck right next to apartment buildings and a children's playground – right on the street – taking the lives of 19 people, 9 of them children. Honored the memory of those killed. We have no right to forget the crimes Russia has committed against Ukrainians. And everyone in the world should remember as well – for Russia, human life means nothing. Eternal memory to all whose lives were taken by Russian terror.

@tjdursch That sounds very exciting - looking forward to that! Looking at projects like the e-methanol plant from European Energy (using catalysts by @clariant) or dynamic ammonia production by @topsoe_official, it really is an exciting time for chemical engineering out there.

OpenAI has launched Operator, an agent that can perform tasks in your browser. I asked it to complete a Qualtrics survey I created. The results are very promising for Operator but *very* concerning for survey researchers

@gnievchenko I remember being massively humbled by the experience, like going from “duh, just feed hydrogen to the blast furnace instead of coal, easy peasy amirite?” to “we’re so screwed there’s no way we will engineer something like this ever again”

@gnievchenko That looks awesome. Last summer in Ostrava I went up an old blast furnace - that was fascinating but seeing the whole thing in operation must be something else.

A silly lil reel I made of a visit to Alcelor Mittal’s steelworks in Ghent. The scale was like nothing I’ve ever seen before. First person factorio. Magical how we learned to turn rocks into big ol slabs and coils of steel.
